What are the risks of choosing the automatic bidding principle?
Summary: hortensia_2012 wonders how eBay's automatic bidding works, especially whether the system will bid up to their maximum price or only just above the previous bid. *miss-tigri* explains that automatic bids can stop before reaching the maximum price if no one else bids higher, and provides a link for more information.
Hello,
I’m about to take part in my first auctions very soon, but I’m not really sure what the consequences are of choosing the automatic bidding option: toward the end of the auction, will eBay automatically keep bidding up to my maximum price, or just slightly above the previous bidder’s amount even if it’s far below my limit?
Thanks in advance for shedding some light on this.
Best regards

The principle of automatic bidding is the same as manual bidding, except that you can step away. It can stop well before your maximum bid if no one outbids you.
