Could you please let me know if there are any penalties for the buyer in the event of payment by cheque?

If you're a buyer... read this--> Pay for an item | eBay

If you're acting as a seller---> it's here--> Receive payment for sold items | eBay

You will find that payment by check is not allowed on the site except in the case of in-person handover, vehicle purchase, or business purchase...

Apart from these cases.... the penalty for paying a seller by check will be not being "covered" by the "purchase guarantee"...

Hello

No penalty, but no eBay guarantee when paying this way.

However, contact the seller before buying to see if they accept it ..
