Buyer's Claim
Summary: maxtho9004 expresses frustration about a parcel lost by Colissimo and wonders what financial protection may be available for sellers in such situations. francexpressdeal and lingma85 explain that the only compensation will come from La Poste and that insurance could have covered the loss. lingma85 specifies that the seller must refund the buyer and then settle compensation with the carrier, stressing the importance of insurance to cover the full value of the parcel.
I’m having a problem with an item sent on March 4 by Colissimo with signature required.
I have kept all the proof of the shipment (proof of drop-off and the photo of the package)
However, this package was lost by the post office as of the morning of March 6.
I understand that the seller is asking for a refund and I will make an effort to refund them, but for my part not only do I lose this sale, I paid eBay commission fees and, to top it all off, the item is lost through no fault of my own because of the post office.
In circumstances like this, is there not some financial protection for the seller in the event that the loss of the package is not my fault.
Thank you in advance
Kind regards

Mentor1 year agoHello @maxtho9004
If you made sure to take out insurance covering the amount of the sale + shipping costs, Colissimo will compensate you after you file and they verify your claim...
But the normal process is that you refund the buyer for the original amount of the transaction... then you sort it out afterward with the carrier to get reimbursed.
If you didn't take out insurance (flat-rate or ad valorem..) compensation will only be based on the weight of the parcel and not its value...
Best regards

" isn't there any protection for the seller financially in case the parcel's loss wasn't my fault."
No, the only compensation you'll get will be from the post office.
