follow-up from delivery drivers
Summary: oli511209 shared their experience of receiving fake SMS messages after ordering a car mat, suspecting a scam linked to the supposed size of the package. *miss-tigri* and koalagris confirmed that these messages are mass-sent scam attempts, regardless of actual orders. They recommend never clicking these links and contacting the carrier directly if in doubt. In the end, oli511209 received their delivery without any problems via Chronopost.
Hello,
After buying a mat for my car on Ebay, I have already received 3 SMS messages informing me that my parcel/mat did not fit in my mailbox (normal since it's over 1 meter...) and directing me to Mondial Relay by paying from €1.93 to €3...
I contacted the sender in time, who will let me know the shipping date so I can track my parcel.
I therefore conclude that these 3 SMS messages received in less than a week are scams (but how do they know the contents of my parcel + its size ???); 3 SMS messages nevertheless!!!
That's my current experience.

Mentor1 year agoHello @oli511209
I doubt the messages mention what was ordered.
Because they don't know anything about it, it's sent out "at random" = you can receive this kind of scam even when you ordered nothing.
The whole mailbox story is just a pretext so that victims click and provide their credit card details.
I'm currently getting this kind of scam several times a week: straight in the bin!
If in doubt, the best thing is to contact the carrier directly (using the contact details you look up yourself, in no case by following the info or links given in the notification).
Best regards

Mentor1 year agoHello
I don't think they know what's in the package or its size..I've also gotten one before even though no order was being delivered.
The texts are sent out by the thousands and sometimes they happen to hit the mark. So you go ahead and make a payment of a few euros and with your credit card number the scammers will make withdrawals 🥴
