I would like to refund a buyer for a package he is returning to me. How does the process work? Is this amount automatically deducted from my account by EBAY the moment I confirm the return, or do I pay on my own initiative with Paypal, for example? This is not a matter of refunding in advance or twice for the same thing. Thank you for your help.

the buyer requested a return so is a dispute open?
Wait to receive this return before refunding.
It's up to you whether you refund the shipping costs (listing not as described or damaged item)
If it's a return for personal convenience, you only refund the item's price.
Go through the official procedure, i.e. cancellation of the sale and refund.
