Refund for a purchase not received at a relay point
Summary: cou-7309 bought an item on eBay but didn’t pick it up at the pickup point. The parcel was returned to the sender, but they didn’t receive a refund. lingma85 advises sending a formal notice to the seller, and contacting the DGCCRF if necessary. *miss-tigri* mentions that, without receipt of the parcel, eBay’s guarantee does not apply and that only the seller can issue a refund if the return is proven.
I bought an item on eBay in January for delivery to a pickup point. In the end I didn't go to pick up the parcel because I changed my mind. The item was therefore returned to the sender but I haven't had any response or refund from the seller. I've contacted him several times since then but each time he tells me he still hasn't received the parcel so I still haven't been refunded.
Is this normal?
Thank you for your reply.
Kind regards.

Mentor5 months agoHello
Since a package not collected by the buyer does not benefit from eBay's guarantee, you will have no recourse through the site ..
You should have received the item and then requested a return with a refund.
Only the seller can refund you, but it is difficult to prove that they actually received the return.

Mentor5 months agoHello @cou-7309
Given that you didn’t bother to pick up the parcel that was intended for you within the deadline and that 30 days after delivery have passed... you can no longer ask ebay for help.
On the other hand, you can use legal means to have the parcel sent back to you or to get
reimbursed----->
- a registered letter formal notice, since the seller has your money + the item at their disposal... so one of the two doesn’t belong to them...
If the seller is a pro... and if they don’t respond----> see about a letter mentioning a complaint to the DGCCRF.... that usually gets things moving.
If the seller is a private individual, check with the clerk’s office of the local court to get reimbursed if the amount of the debt is worth it (deposit of +/- 50 € before filing a case)...
Kind regards
