Refund overpaid VAT+TAXES
Summary: eeidf shares their frustrating experience after buying a watch on eBay. Although they paid nearly €1,000 in taxes and VAT, they had to pay an additional €125 because of the seller’s incorrect declaration. Upon receipt, the item turned out to be a counterfeit, and after a two-month dispute, they won the case but still haven’t received the tax refund despite follow-ups. *miss-tigri* suggests reading a similar testimonial and considering reporting it to the DGCCRF, which eeidf has decided to do, expressing their dissatisfaction with eBay.
I bought a watch for which I paid via EBay nearly €1,000 in taxes and VAT… I received the item, but I was asked, in order to receive it, to pay an additional €125, the seller having made the declaration incorrectly at the time of shipping… it turned out upon receipt of the item that it was a counterfeit! I therefore opened a PayPal claim and, at the same time, asked eBay for a refund (as предусмотрed in their terms and conditions) of the excess taxes paid… I was told that since a dispute was open, they had to wait to see whether the dispute would be closed in my favor (or not) before proceeding with this refund! No link, but fair enough… after 2 months of work to get the case resolved in my favor, I finally obtained the closing of this claim in my favor on 27/06/24… I therefore immediately contacted eBay again about the dispute being closed in my favor and asked for a refund of this excess tax payment… since 27/06/24, eBay has been stringing me along, no longer replying, I have to keep following up constantly, it’s becoming unbearable… you have to keep claiming what is due to you over and over! I fought for 2 months to close a claim, and now I still have to fight to get what should be rightfully refunded to me… insane… has anyone experienced a similar situation!? Thanks

OP2 years agoI also just filed a report with the DGCCRF, for fraudulent action on the part of eBay…tired of being taken for a sucker…ridiculous coming from a company of this size. Forced to report their failings…disappointing. Never buying abroad again for me!…thanks again
