Return of defective item
Summary: pieme_2658 received a defective watch bought on eBay and had difficulty with returning the item and syncing the tracking information. After complications with the seller and tracking errors, lingma85 advised contacting customer service to sort out the situation. pieme_2658 followed this advice and eventually resolved the issue successfully with phone support. All exchanges were polite, with thanks given for the help received.
Hello,
On April 3, I received a defective watch that I bought here on eBay. The minute and hour hands were not synchronized, making it impossible to read the time (the minute hand was 30 minutes behind, so when the hour hand was perfectly aligned with the hour, the minute hand was halfway through its cycle, so on the 6).
Since I was entitled to return the item within 30 days, as specified at the time of purchase, and considering that the seller was particularly unpleasant toward me (he kept insisting that the watch was working perfectly and that it was simply me who didn't know how to use it - read the time), I decided to return it.
On April 4, I sent the package back to the seller via Colissimo. In the meantime, he had accepted the return (shipping costs, in accordance with the contract concluded at the time of purchase, being the seller's responsibility).
The package was delivered to the seller on Saturday, April 6. Despite this, the eBay return page has not been updated, leaving it to appear that the item has not yet been shipped according to the displayed information. In addition, the tracking code shown on this page does not match the one indicated on the receipt (the last digits differ). So I am waiting for my refund even though the seller has already received his returned item some time ago.
What should I do?
Thank you very much for your help. Regards.

OP2 years agoObviously, I used the shipping label provided by the seller (and downloadable directly from eBay).
I didn't send the package myself, but I waited for the seller to accept the return, which he did on the morning of April 4.
When I wrote "In the meantime," I meant that the seller had accepted the return between the evening of the 3rd (the date the package was received) and the afternoon of the 4th (the date the package was returned).

Mentor2 years agoHello @pieme_2658
You say---> On April 4, I sent back the package to the seller via Colissimo....."
then....
"Despite that, the eBay return page has not been updated, thus making it seem that the item has not yet been shipped according to the information displayed.. Also, the tracking code shown on this page does not match the one indicated on the label (the last digits are different)"
That's odd what you're saying....
- how can the return tracking number be different from the one you used...???
You didn't do what was needed by replacing it with yours and it's the one sent by the seller that is displayed.. which is why the return page has not been updated...
If you can't change the tracking number..----> Contact customer service here-------> eBay customer service preferably during business hours and ask to be called back (use the "contact us" tab at the bottom of the page of the link )
Kind regards

OP2 years agoThanks @lingma85for your feedback.
Indeed, the return was fully handled by the seller, who provided me with a label via eBay. However, inside the label, the tracking code differs from the one indicated on the page regarding the item return.
Having never sold on eBay, I don't know if it was the seller who entered a tracking number slightly different from the one indicated on the label.
So, I can't modify the tracking code.
