A 70-piece porcelain set was put up for auction with a ridiculous starting bid of €10, even though such a set can fetch a price 50 to 60 times higher. I’m interested in this set and I start bidding at the listed base price. Curiously, I am the only bidder and, at the end of the auction, the seller cancels the sale on the grounds that I supposedly requested it, which is obviously untrue. The process is curious: why such a low starting bid? Why a cancellation at the end of the auction? I don’t understand anything about what happened... Of course, I was ready to pay a “reasonable” price for this purchase, knowing the market for these items... Maybe an eBay regular could shed some light on this for me...

the seller canceled the sale simply because the price he was hoping for wasn’t reached.

He has a zero-profile and signed up on eBay less than 10 days ago. He clearly isn’t used to bidding on the site or the "procedures" to follow.

The easiest thing would be to contact him directly if you’re interested in this service. He may be able to relist it at a price that works for both of you.
