Delivery tracking
Summary: rray.si.9resim expresses surprise at Mondial Relay’s lack of communication about an order placed, despite tracking showing that the parcel has been shipped. koalagris explains that without information provided by rray.si.9resim, the seller receives the notifications and has to pass them on. rray.si.9resim points out that this problem has never come up before and that the request for personal information seems to go against eBay’s rules. francexpressdeal says this is linked to sellers’ access to encrypted information on eBay, and that providing personal information could improve parcel delivery. Various links to similar discussions are provided to clarify the situation.
Hello,
I’m surprised by the delivery process for an order I placed two days ago:
I didn’t receive any message from Mondial Relay, even though the website said the parcel had been shipped (I checked with the tracking code that was on the website). I asked the seller, who told me: "it is normal that you did not receive an email because you did not give me your email address". I have always been notified by the carrier even though I never gave my email directly to the seller. The seller had also asked me before shipping for my name and phone number, which I did not give him. I don’t know how the seller sent it, but clearly there is a communication problem with E-Bay.

Mentor1 year agoGood evening @rray.si.9resim
It all depends on the site,
and also whether the seller uses eBay's shipping platform or not.
In short, without any info from you, it's the seller who receives the notifications and is supposed to pass them on to you via eBay messaging...

OP1 year agoI'm skeptical; in all the years I've been placing orders on E-Bay or Rakuten, this problem has never come up. Sellers have never asked me for personal information, and I've always received emails and SMS alerts from the carriers. What's more, it seems to me that providing this information is prohibited by E-Bay's rules.

Mentor1 year agoHello @rray.si.9resim
on Rak...ten, it’s normal that you don’t have any problems since sellers have access to your personal information. That’s not the case for ebay (at least for the email, which is in encrypted form, which causes a problem with the carriers).
Now, if a seller on ebay asks you for this information, it’s so that you receive your parcel in the best possible conditions. You’re mainly the one who gets penalized by refusing to follow up...
See the links provided by @koalagris to try to understand... (Koala greetings 🙂)
