Shipping rate Portugal, but actually Madeira (Portugal)
I just sold an item, the buyer paid European Union shipping fees for Portugal, but the buyer is in Madeira, which is part of Portugal, but the shipping fees are not the same at all.
it's like if the destination is France but actually the overseas territories. instead of fees around €10, it goes up to €100 when using eBay shipping labels.
what's the solution please ?

You’re basing yourself on eBay shipping labels... to get the shipping rate for a parcel to Madeira... which seems very expensive to you.
- what about going directly through the Post Office...? Postal rates for abroad 2025 - La Poste
Knowing that you are by no means obliged to go through eBay’s delivery platform.... check around with the carriers to see what’s what before making a decision...
If the amount of the shipping costs really is exorbitant compared to what you set in the listing... - you can contact your buyer and explain that you are cancelling the current sale for reasons of shipping costs not originally planned ( Cancel an order as a seller | eBay )
and that
- if he’s interested in the item, you can make him a new listing with the real shipping costs.
Depending on his agreement, you can send him the URL of the new listing.
As for asking him for extra shipping costs... that’s up to him, and could possibly cause problems...

by post that still comes to 10€ more than initially expected for a European Union delivery.
