CANCEL A SALE TO CORRECT MY MISTAKES, BUT EBAY IS SELLING THE ITEM
Summary: chinart77 ran into difficulties with eBay after listing an item in the wrong category and receiving a bid. They wanted to end the sale, but eBay forced them to sell it for 1 euro, which led to a negative rating. However, eBay agreed to cancel that rating. koalagris responded by explaining that the user had two options when deleting the listing: cancel the bid or sell to the highest bidder. koalagris recommends starting auctions at the minimum price you want to avoid other problems. chinart77 acknowledged their mistake.
Hello, I put up a valuable item and after 5 minutes I realized I had not put it in the right category. The problem is that someone had already bid... By clicking on "end the sale" ebay forces me to sell this silver box to this person for 1 euro, who leaves me a negative rating "CANCELLED". ebay's response: I just have to set a reserve price. I'm not interested in paying more for my listing because anyway all my items sell very well starting at 1 euro. Best regards, Frédéric. PS: ebay did agree to cancel the rating.

Mentor3 years agoHello @chinart77
" ebay forces me to sell this silver box to this person for 1 euro" = ???
Absolutely not!
when deleting, you had 2 choices: end the listing by canceling the bid received OR end the listing by selling to the highest bidder, did you maybe get that wrong?
that said, with 1 bid received, ebay charges fees as if it were sold (refusal to sell).
the rating was canceled on the sole grounds that the item was not paid for; that doesn't mean you're right about the process.
if indeed the reserve price is a paid option, due even if the item is not sold, and generally scares buyers away (who don't want to waste their time bidding for nothing), you'll inevitably run into other issues like this by starting bids at 1€, the best thing is to list it at the minimum desired price (that way you can only come out ahead if the bids go up).
best regards
