TVA
Summary: jor_9557 asks about the VAT applied to collectible items purchased online via eBay, noting a difference between the rate applicable in France (5.5%) and the rate charged (20%). lingma85 suggests consulting an eBay page for information on tax payments, but jor_9557 notes that this does not explain how to obtain a partial VAT refund. lingma85 advises contacting eBay customer service to resolve this issue.
Hello everyone,
I would like to purchase collectible items. In France, according to customs regulations, these are not subject to customs duties and are subject to 5.5% VAT, not 20%. It would seem that prices on eBay take into account VAT at 20%.
Are we obliged to pay VAT to eBay, or can we choose to pay it directly when passing through customs?
If that is not possible, is it possible to get the overpaid VAT refunded by eBay?
Thank you for your help!
Jo
