A new device uses your account
Summary: robert_750 expresses his frustration about repeated eBay alerts warning about the use of a new device to access his account, even though he often uses different devices. lingma85 responds by explaining that these alerts are common when changing devices or browsers. They are designed for security, so you can know if someone else is using the account. lingma85 suggests viewing these messages positively because of their protective aspect.
Hello community, I get the impression that eBay is becoming paranoid or their security systems are too sensitive! I regularly receive the message: "a new device is using your account"!
It’s true that I sometimes log in with my PC (on Windows), my smartphone (on Android), my laptop (on Linux), etc., depending on where I am. But as soon as I enter my username and password and can also enter the code sent by eBay to my phone if needed, where’s the problem??? I do the same with many sites, including 2 banking sites, insurance, SNCF or Air France, and none of them has ever reported that I used another device! So even in an internet café, on the other side of the world, eBay gets thrown into a panic! Ridiculous!

It’s the same for everyone... when the “visitor” changes device and.... if they change browser ...they’ll also get this alert...
Besides the IP address... you’re also recognized by your device profile (with Google you’re tracked everywhere...)
That’s not bad... you should take this alert as a good thing, since it can let you know if someone else used your PC or your phone if you use a browser specifically for the site..
Best regards
