Age verification for purchases in the UK

Hello,
I want to buy a STIHL hedge trimmer from a private seller, but when I try to confirm the order, I'm asked for my bank details for an age verification, and despite several attempts it's impossible to proceed with the payment
Why this age verification when using a bank card???

As for the fact that it's not working, please contact customer service directly.
