Shady seller
Summary: tuvoj21 expresses concerns after buying an injection pump on eBay, because the seller asked for a security deposit, which wasn’t clear to him at first. koalagris explains that this is a common practice where the deposit is refunded after the old part is returned. After checking things over and discussing it, tuvoj21 realizes everything is in order and thanks everyone for the help, acknowledging his initial mistake. Another participant, lingma85, points out the importance of reading descriptions carefully and thinking before posting comments online, to avoid making unfounded accusations.
I bought an injection pump for my car, which you can find in the link below:

Everything looks clean at first glance, but since I ordered it last Wednesday I sent him a message to ask where things stood regarding shipping it, and he replies to me with this message:
Good day’
Have you transferred the deposit? Since it is an exchange part, we require a deposit as mentioned in the item description. The part will only be shipped once we have received the deposit.

So I’m telling myself I’ll look for info on this company online just to be safe, but having found nothing I’m starting to worry a bit..
Am I paranoid or does this smell like a scam a mile away?

Mentor2 years agoHello @tuvoj21
All your messages are very nice... apologies ... etc.... but they carry little weight compared to what your opening message can give, since it will be read before the others... namely----> the title of your post " Shady seller " which remains....
Your first reaction is not to look for whether there is any problem....----> it is to accuse a seller of having a "shady" attitude toward you because...
- you don't know how to look up an address on the web... or you didn't take the time to do a precise search
- because you didn't read and/or look at an ad in full... thus skipping important details so the transaction goes smoothly...
- and also because you didn't do your part in the transaction before being told to do it.....
When you write.... take the time to think about what you're going to say since written words stay on the web... and also reread several times to understand what is being asked of you and what you need to do before complaining.
Best regards

Mentor2 years agoHello @tuvoj21
As you read in the listing description, there is a deposit to pay before the purchased part is sent (which will then be refunded once the used part is returned) = see the tab "information about the deposit and old parts".
That’s exactly what the seller is talking about; most parts sellers do things this way....
where do you see a scam ??? 🤔
Best regards
P.S. : for info

OP2 years agoI’m just being cautious, but so the condition of the purchase is to send back my old part when I receive the new one, if I understood correctly?
As for the deposit, I couldn’t find the amount requested

Mentor2 years ago"send back my old part upon receiving the new one if I understood correctly?" = so that the deposit is refunded, yes
"Regarding the deposit I couldn’t find the amount requested" = payment directly to the seller (not possible via eBay), to see with him, but I advise you to use PayPal to do it...
