Dishonest seller, what can I do?
Summary: tootech13 bought a catalytic converter for their car, had it installed by a professional, and ran into problems with the part. The seller is offering partial solutions instead of agreeing to a full return, despite eBay's return policy. tootech13 is wondering whether the seller should provide a return label, in accordance with the terms where return shipping is paid by the seller, and is seeking advice. *miss-tigri* provides a link to eBay's return policy to clarify the seller's obligations.
To keep it simple and short, I bought a catalytic converter for my car, which I had fitted by a professional.
That professional also replaced the two lambda sensors.
After the replacement, the adaptations and the tests, everything was working properly.
Today, unfortunately for me, the fault on the catalytic converter is back, and the professional is telling me that this comes from the part we installed.
So I contacted the seller.
Despite the fact that it states he accepts returns within 30 days and that the return costs are his responsibility, he asks me whether I would accept refunds of 20 or 30€...
Then if I would accept a 70% refund....
Then if I would be willing to pay fees so he can send me another part....
As he never really answers my questions and doesn’t seem especially honest to me, I made a return request through the eBay system.
I received a message from the seller asking me to send the item back to a certain address.
What I’m stuck on is: isn’t it up to him to provide me with a return label?
The costs are supposed to be his responsibility !?
Thanks in advance, everyone.
