Professional seller registered as an individual!
Summary: lbda85 is concerned about the growing presence of professional sellers registering as private individuals, which creates unfair competition on platforms like eBay. *miss-tigri* suggests contacting customer service to report the problem, while francexpressdeal expresses skepticism about the effectiveness of such reports, pointing out that this phenomenon is common and that platforms are reluctant to shut down these accounts. lbda85 confirms knowing a professional who uses this scheme, but is told by francexpressdeal that concrete action on this issue is unlikely.
Hello,
I’m seeing more and more resellers registered as "individuals" when they are actually businesses.
When a so-called individual reseller sells the same products as my company and makes more than 1000 sales... Is that really still an individual?
It seems more than dubious and therefore unfair competition because I suppose the fees are lower for an individual!
Who could give me information on this subject, and is it possible to request the removal of these seller accounts?
Thank you for your feedback.

OP1 year agoThanks for the feedback,
So if I understand correctly, it's a lost cause even though these pros are breaking all the rules!

as already said, they’re probably private individuals selling like pros...
And no, you can’t do anything.
At least officially, you can report them, but the site won’t do anything...

OP1 year agoHello,
Sorry, I've been a bit overwhelmed lately.
No no, I can confirm that he's definitely a professional, who sells on eBay, with a private-individual status.
He even has a SIRET number but of course, not on eBay!
But this SIRET number has the same trading name as that famous private individual, and of course, with the same postal code! 🤔

okay, thanks for your feedback.
It's rarer, but yes, this is also one of the situations the site is fully aware of and for which they won't do anything... 🙄
As I was saying to you: "If the site were to close all these accounts, there wouldn't be enough sellers left for it to be profitable..."

just a clarification:
You say: "I’m seeing more and more sellers registered as 'individuals' even though they’re businesses."
It can happen that professionals sign up on the site as individuals, but that remains a minor phenomenon.
The big problem is individuals who sell like professionals (new items in multiple quantities).
And I think the "competitors" you may have seen on the site are in that second category.

Mentor1 year agoHello @lbda85
It's a growing phenomenon and not just on eBay.
Just like the pros who don't comply with the regulations in force (REP and RSGP among others)...
You can always report them, but don't kid yourself: ebay won't do anything.
If the site were to shut down all these accounts, there wouldn't be enough sellers left for it to be profitable...
