Sale of a chandelier with a dead LED
Summary: yochanchan shares her negative experience selling a chandelier with a defective LED on eBay. Despite clearly stating the item's condition, the buyer opened a dispute after discovering a second broken LED and asked for a refund, then claimed that the transformer was also defective. yochanchan complains about eBay's dispute management system, which allowed the buyer to leave negative feedback without giving her the chance to respond. *miss-tigri*, another participant, advises trying to negotiate a feedback revision or leaving an explanatory comment on the feedback received. lingma85 suggests adding a follow-up comment while staying calm to explain the situation to future buyers.
Hello, I’m sharing my bad sales experience regarding a chandelier with a dead LED.
I had clearly stated that the item was dead for parts in the category and also mentioned in the description that I could see a dead LED. The buyer found a second dead LED, opened a dispute, and asked for a refund for what he claimed were additional dead LEDs. I replied that I’m sure of what I saw and that, in any case, I doubt the cost of an extra LED is what’s bothering him... And then, surprise, he tells me the transformer is dead too... I basically replied what’s going to be next at this rate?! and told him I doubted his good faith. He replied in so many words, stop talking and refund me... I replied that it’s still pretty rich: I described what I saw, stated that it was dead for parts, he bought it, then changed his mind and asked for a return, and that this method is way too easy. It’s extremely dispute-prone; the person being in robotics, to me, is doing this so they can then repair it without paying for an item bought dead. I’m not in that field, I list what I see and that’s not enough; in that case EBAY shouldn’t allow the "dead for parts" category. The dispute goes through, eBay refunds everyone, but leaves the buyer the chance to trash me with a negative review. Which he did: he tore me apart with his version, and I can’t do the same and let my rating drop for free. I’m disgusted

·2 years agoHello,
has there been any update on the item?
You shouldn’t have refunded the buyer until you had received the item.
Best regards.

Mentor2 years agoHello
Leave an explanatory comment on the rating you received, or try to negotiate a change to the rating with the buyer, that's all you can do ...

OP2 years agoUnfortunately yes, that’s what I saw... Non-negotiable with the buyer, he doesn’t want to show his bad faith and is sticking to his position. Ebay is completely useless when it comes to handling disputes we don’t run into this problem on **bleep** or **bleep**

Mentor2 years agoHello @yochanchan
Given that this tomato is going to stay on your profile for quite a while still...
- why not follow up on the review comment by stating how you see it (especially since for a purchase of 10 €... this buyer's punishment seems a bit disproportionate)...
Make a draft of your comment to avoid any angry words.. write it calmly ...
In general, review follow-ups are also read by buyers (who only get green ones even if they are lousy buyers)..
Defend yourself with the means you have, even if they seem trivial...
