Sales in the EU and the UK: VAT
Summary: croixdore discusses the tax implications of their sales as a self-employed franchisee under the VAT exemption threshold. They have exceeded the €10,000 threshold for the EU and the UK and are worried about additional taxes, especially the 20% VAT, which add on top of eBay and URSSAF fees, totaling around 47% of their revenue. francexpressdeal confirms that these sales are cross-border and mentions that the UK is no longer part of the EU. They are also considering stopping shipments of items to the EU to avoid these taxes and are looking for advice before consulting a tax specialist.
Hello, I am self-employed, under the VAT exemption threshold. Unfortunately, the amount of my sales for the year 2024 (in the EU and the UK) has gone a little over 10,000 euros. I’m going to see a tax consultant soon? but before that I would like to have your opinions on this subject. Used items, collectibles, antiques seem to be exempt from VAT? And if I have to pay VAT on my sales, on the full amount or on the difference XXXX-10000 euros?
If VAT is 20%... Already eBay fees + URSSAF + VAT.... It seems to me that it’s too much! 47% of turnover (plus, including shipping costs). If I stop sending my items to the EU, will that help me get around this restriction? Thanks in advance for your advice

Mentor1 year agoHello @croixdore
We're talking about cross-border sales, which means outside France.
Have you exceeded the threshold even excluding France?
As for the United Kingdom, it's no longer part of the EU.
