Net Sales Different from Total Funds
Summary: god_valleytcg expressed concern about a difference between their net sales on eBay and the available funds, suspecting hidden fees, especially shipping fees. francexpressdeal advised checking the "Payments" tab for a breakdown of the fees, and mentioned regulatory operating fees and international transaction fees as possible factors. god_valleytcg eventually understood that the confusion came from VAT being included in the total sales amount, which cleared things up. The fee display was found to be confusing for a beginner user on eBay.
Hello, as stated in the title, I have made a total of €407 in net sales since the start of my activity on eBay. €494 gross. €407 net after sales fees, etc.
Why is the total of my funds €371 (blocked funds and pending payments included, theoretically it should be €407)? Where did the €36 difference go??
Knowing that, I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but my total shipping fees for the period were €36... Except that I pay for shipping myself at the post office, so I need that €36. I don't know if it's the shipping fees that eBay keeps or if it's something else but it really bothers me in my calculations. Are there "hidden" fees?
Thanks for your replies!! 🙂

OP1 year agoHi! After downloading a detailed financial statement I was able to see that for the month of August I paid €18.44 in sponsorship fees (which are included in the general selling fees). However, after deducting these general selling fees, I was billed again €18.44 categorized as "Other fees"
So eBay is charging me the sponsorship fees twice, probably a mistake. At least I hope so 😂

Mentor1 year agoIt’s not the financial statement that will help you;
I already explained how to proceed, so contact customer service directly:

OP1 year agoOk, I just found where my misunderstanding came from: in the total sales amount, it includes the VAT that the buyer pays to eBay. Obviously, this VAT is also deducted from that amount in addition to the selling fees, which is why there’s a difference. The display is a bit confusing for someone who’s just starting out on eBay :^p
I was this close to sending an email to the president.
😂
Thanks for your help!

OP1 year agoHello to you and thank you for your reply 🙂
I downloaded the "Financial Statement" and indeed they are still deducting an amount from Net Sales. So fees ON TOP of the fees. The line item is called "Other Fees" and there is no transparency at all, what is it?
Do you have the same thing?

Mentor1 year agoI don't work from the financial statement.
As already said, go to the "Payments" tab and there you'll have the details of all the fees deducted;
You can also request a report for a specific period.

2 types of fees that you may not have taken into account:
- Regulatory operating fees.
- International transaction fees.

And sponsorship fees if you do any.
