Your listing does not comply with the rules: Counterfeits policy
Summary: gugusse_de_montauban raises a recurring issue on eBay where his listings for branded second-hand clothing are removed on suspicion of counterfeiting, despite his history as a professional seller with over 99% positive feedback. He explains that the listings are automatically taken down following reports from members, which then requires calling customer service to reactivate them, a process that is stressful and ineffective. He asks whether other people are experiencing this problem and expresses concern about the possibility of losing unhappy sellers.
Hello,
on my pro account, I’ve been dealing with a major issue for several weeks now (and I know other pro sellers who have the same problem): my listings are being removed for suspected counterfeit items by eBay following reports from other members.
I sell second-hand branded clothing and I’ve been a pro seller for almost 20 years on eBay, I have more than 99% positive feedback, and NEVER has one of my buyers complained that I sent them counterfeit goods.
So, these listings (around 30 since the beginning of September, in several batches: once 5 listings, once 1 listing, etc. etc. ...) are being removed even though the photos show all the authenticity labels. The online dispute service to contest the issue exists, but you can’t send photos of the labels or write a defense message. Systematically, the request is rejected!!!
So you have to call customer service to ask for the listings to be reviewed, and they have all been reactivated!!! Sometimes they’re reactivated the same day, sometimes it can take a week. It’s pretty incomprehensible.
The problem is that it’s a waste of time on the phone, the stress of being wrongly accused, the stress of having your account blocked, listings not visible for several days, etc. etc.
From what I understand, it’s members who report the item and it is automatically removed! It has nothing to do with the Vero system. I find that completely crazy and I hope eBay will fix this problem, otherwise there are going to be a lot of sellers leaving the site willingly or not 😞
Has anyone else run into this problem?
Why does eBay act like this instead of checking for itself rather than making it automatic like on other platforms?
Thanks for reading and I hope to get some answers 🙂
