spoon identification
Summary: clement44atlantique was trying to identify a type of small spoon, wondering what it was used for and what it was made of, while specifying that the number 18 referred to the weight. Several participants replied, asking for more details, such as measurements or photos. nareio suggested that the model might be said to be "Russian" without necessarily being Russian. lingma85 suggested that the number 18 could indicate the metal gauge rather than the total weight, noting that the absence of an official hallmark makes exact identification difficult. The conversation ended with clement44atlantique thanking everyone.

This seems to be what’s called a “Russian” model or “in the Russian style” (which doesn’t mean it’s Russian)
We’d need to be able to read the hallmark...

I'll just give you my take... (not a statement...)
The number 18 should not correspond to the weight of the small spoon.. but to the thickness of the metal it's made of or covered with..
Hallmarks don't wear off easily, because they are generally placed in spots where wear can't easily reach, such as the handle for example.. whether it's silver, silver-plated, pewter or something else... I fear there may not actually be a real official hallmark...
As for the origin ... ???
Kind regards
