right of withdrawal
Summary: marcmalloy expressed concerns about the right of withdrawal for online purchases, mentioning that French law provides for this right but that on eBay, sellers can refuse returns. koalagris clarified that this regulation applies to professional sellers but not to private individuals. frelonverre added that buyers should take responsibility for their decisions and mistakes.
French law provides a right of withdrawal for all distance purchases, including online and mail order sales
this law is defined in articles L.221-18, L.221-21 and L.221-23 of the consumer code
Why does ebay allow sellers to decide whether to accept a return or not and thereby put itself in an illegal position?
if transactions were more transparent maybe it would be maybe beneficial for the platform like on other merchant sites

in principle we’re all adults and as such responsible for our actions
so we’re capable of owning up to our mistakes, so you click, you pay up, and you resell

Hello ??? 😕
Professional sellers are indeed subject to the right of withdrawal (= commercial code).
This is not the case for private sellers (= civil code).
Ebay therefore follows these guidelines to the letter...
It’s up to you to filter your sellers if you want to be able to change your mind...
