Identity verification
Summary: edelweisssavoie is having an identity verification problem on eBay while she is in Korea and can’t access her account without calling a paid number. koalagris explains that logging in from abroad triggers a verification to prevent hacking and suggests waiting until she returns to France to resolve the issue. liloucristal, in a similar situation in France, is looking for advice on how to reach the verification number, which seems to be inaccessible. The problem appears to be related to international logins and eBay’s security guidelines.
Hello,
I am in Korea, I wanted to reply to 2 people who sent me, one an offer, the other a request for additional photos. I went on my Ebay and after logging in, I have a message that tells me: it seems that you have logged in from a different computer than the one you usually use (which is false). We need to verify your identity. Call us at 800 20040200 and provide the security code xxxxxxxxxx. I don't have access to my account.
I can't call from Korea: 3 euros a minute: no thanks!
Have you ever had this case? Thanks for your reply.

·2 years agoHello,
I have an account in France and I usually log in from France.
I already have two-factor authentication (I receive an SMS in addition to the password).
When trying to log in to my account, I am also asked to contact 800 20040200.
I am in France, and I log in from my smartphone and Windows PC.
When I call 800 20040200, my provider tells me that this number cannot be reached.
Is there anything that needs to be added at the beginning of the number? An area code?
Thanks

·3 years agoHello @edelweisssavoie
What I don’t understand is why you didn’t switch to away mode, since being abroad you won’t be able to ship anyway:
https://www.ebay.fr/help/selling/selling-tools/absence?id=5137&st=3&pos=1&query=Absence&intent=mode%20absence&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1600
"you logged in from a computer other than the one you usually use (which is false)" = they’re talking about the IP; it’s your connection from abroad that triggered this check (intended to prevent hacking).
in my opinion you’ll have to wait until you’re back in France to do what’s needed.
best regards
