Listing removed by eBay in error
Summary: me_9950 put a set of sportswear up for sale on eBay and saw the listing removed for suspected counterfeiting, despite photos proving its authenticity. After filing a complaint with eBay, they were asked not to post this type of listing anymore, citing an infringement reported by an intellectual property rights holder. me_9950 expressed frustration, saying they did not receive any clear contact to resolve the issue. The other participants’ replies point out that even occasional sellers must comply with eBay’s professional rules and be careful about the VERO program.
Hello,
I listed a set of sportswear for sale on the international version of the site to reach more buyers. I occasionally sell clothes this way and I’ve never had any problems. But this time, a few hours later, the listing was removed for suspected counterfeiting. I think it was reported by an eBay user... even though I had posted very detailed photos proving authenticity.
I filed a complaint with eBay, and it’s the safety and trust team that asked me to send them the invoices and my ID. I was told it would go very quickly and that my listing would be put back online. But once I had done that, I received an email that was basically a flat refusal despite my cooperation:
"However, after reviewing your case, I would ask you not to repost this kind of listing on the site, please. A holder of intellectual property rights reported to us that it infringed their rights by offering delivery to a specific country or region; the same intellectual property rights holder also reported to us that it constituted a violation. Listing software that breaches an applicable license agreement violates copyright laws. We recommend that you contact the intellectual property rights holder directly to learn more, and also to request the invoice or authentication certificate for your items."
Do any of you understand this? It feels like they’re making fun of me.
I’m going to look for another selling platform, but international ones don’t exactly grow on trees outside of eBay...

·2 years agoHello @me_9950
You need to understand that a private individual is not supposed to sell only brand-new items....
best regards

OP2 years agoThe safety and trust team could at least say it clearly in their email instead of giving some bogus, pre-recorded justification that has nothing to do with it... Anyway, I'm only an occasional seller (the number of sales I make per year can be counted on the fingers of both hands, and even then.) but I have sold second-hand items in the past.

·2 years agoHello @me_9950
regarding what @koalagris told you, it doesn’t matter whether you are a casual seller or whether you have sold second-hand items in the past.
From the moment you are buying with the intention of reselling, that is a professional activity.
For the problem you ran into, based on the answer you were given, it seems to be linked to the VERO program.
Logically, you were informed of this in the first message announcing the removal of your listing.
And you also had an email to contact the person who made the report to find out more if needed.
