Account disappeared without any explanation - No way to get in touch with eBay
Summary: monnayeur99 expresses frustration after his eBay account disappeared, making it impossible to contact support without access to his account. Despite his attempts by phone and email, as well as signing up on eBay Germany, he still can’t get any help and feels trapped in a vicious circle. felin12 and koalagris try to help by pointing out the differences between eBay’s services by country, but the solutions they suggest don’t work for monnayeur99, who is considering mediation through FEVAD.
Recently I sold an item on my Ebay account. Wanting to contact the seller because the package was returned to me with no information, I realize that my account has simply disappeared, as if it had never existed.
Contacting ebay without access to your account is impossible. There is indeed a page for a hacking case, but it goes around in circles....in my case without an account. Even the tel. no. finally found with Google - the [Coordonnée] - tells you to go to HELP and immediately get a code allowing it to be entered when this number calls back.
The practice of many sites of protecting themselves against various unmotivated interventions is understandable, but in this case, not finding any way to contact Ebay, how can one see this as anything other than scandalous?
This is already the second time that I have written to the only ebay email address known from their mailings, not classified as "no reply" which is [Coordonnée] has not produced anything.
Well done Ebay, I now know why **bleep** succeeded and you ?

Hello ??? 😕
Registered in Germany = you’re stuck with ebay.de
(the .fr links won’t be of any use to you)
That may explain why you’re going around in circles...

OP2 years agoHello François,
Sorry that my reply is a bit long, but not as long as the time I spend on this Ebay puzzle.
Maybe what you suggest works when you are logged into your account. Without that, nothing at all works for me.
Following your advice, after choosing "account" there is absolutely no visibility of a choice for "account hijacking", only "Get help ... hacked account" but underneath there are good tips, without any way to have a chat or email or contact form, I’m just being sent in circles, for example here after "...hacking" there is:
Related help topics
Show other topics in:
and THAT'S IT. It just goes around in circles, because the site is closed off to any more individual action.
Everything seems to indicate that in order to get help or contact someone you have to be authorized by logging into your account, which for me is impossible.
On top of that, Google lists an ebay Paris no. 0173001710 as Ebay service number - but not on its own site - but to get through the automated announcement system, you need a code, and for that they give the false information that you can get it on the ebay site.
But it is impossible to do. It does not work; another piece of false information. Everything is perfectly sealed off. Incompetence on their own site, or premeditation, it makes absolutely no difference to me, but it is unbearable.
Making the customer do the work is the principle. A service that cares about quality has to provide human contact at some point somewhere, even if only by chat, but NO, not at Ebay.
Here, very good, thank you, someone kindly replied that I should make my request with my ebay account in Germany. Having logged in, I can request a callback because I am connected ..... but only on a German, Swiss or Austrian number. What nonsense, there are people as customers who speak their own language.
So I’ll have to wait until I return to Germany at the end of winter, which would be a bit late 🙂
I don't know whether this is a hack or Ebay’s incompetence in allowing the account to be created. (I do have two **bleep** accounts!) Being able to do it openly, that’s fine by me.
Note: Why a German ebay site? It’s simple: I have an expensive item to sell that is in Germany, and ebay.de advertises selling in winter with zero commission if it is also delivered in Germany. If it’s France, it’s 3%. In Germany, competition from their old Ebay classifieds site forces them to offer conditions so as not to lose market share. (In France, it will be the case with "**bleep**", which will sooner or later force ebay.fr to follow the German example.) I have taken advantage of what is offered to me, since I have an item to sell that is moreover already in Germany. Also, from experience this kind of item sells better to German customers, which is perfect for me. ((My cleaner in Germany is responsible, in the event of a sale, for taking the item to the German post office.)
Summary:
Ebay is responsible for what they allow: being able to create my German account with the same French mobile number made me think that all of this was okay. Curse Ebay if they deleted my French account without any warning.
The possible case of a hack is hardly better.
In both cases, not serious for an international site that is not just any little shop on the internet
not to allow easy contact for clarification. In the meantime my French data have disappeared and that is causing me another problem, because on the ebay.fr site I completed a shipped sale, but the parcel was sent back to me. No way to contact the buyer.
Many providers do put in place some kind of protection against spam emails, of course!
I class as abuse, for example, the fact that they themselves benefit from an email sent, but if I want to reply to them right away, it is impossible. The email address is called "no_replay@...." that should be forbidden, because they ask me for a postal letter to their address, in some cases by registered mail.
In the meantime I have contacted FEVAD for mediation, not without noting that in my view the big names on the internet are completely abusing things to make customers do the work in their place by saving the cost of proper service. **bleep** as a provider is often heavily criticized, except that even in the case of dissatisfaction with a shop from a third-party partner, if I do not get a reply or satisfaction - when it is clearly not my responsibility that I am complaining about - I can contact them easily and in the end they even refund me instead of that irresponsible shop. And one wonders why Ebay, as a pioneer, is behind **bleep**?
Thank you for all the comments, which in my case unfortunately do not lead anywhere at all.
Best regards
Günter
