MTG counterfeit card
Summary: groomaa recently bought Magic the Gathering cards on eBay for around €600, but received copies instead of authentic cards. Despite tests carried out to confirm they were not authentic, eBay said the listing complied with their rules. koalagris suggested opening a return request, but groomaa explained that the seller refused returns and expressed concerns about reselling the fakes. koalagris clarified that the mention "returns refused" does not apply in the case of non-compliance and advised contacting customer service.
Recently I bought a few Magic the Gathering cards on EBay, for a substantial amount, close to €600.
The prices were roughly at market value (no excessive discount). The condition of the cards showed a few minor defects that you find on other cards.
However, upon receiving the cards, there is no doubt possible, they are proxies, or copies, and in no way Magic cards.
After analysis with a precision scale, light test (white light, black light) as well as inspection of the L-shaped Red Dots on the back of the card, the cards cannot be authentic.
Nevertheless, after reporting it, Ebay customer service informs me that the listing complies with the site rules.
I should point out in passing that there is absolutely no mention of copies in the original listing, but rather of authentic cards.
Do I have a solution to resolve this situation amicably, or should I now turn to legal action?

OP1 year agoThe seller refuses returns. I’m waiting for his response, if he does want to fully refund me.
Also, in the case of counterfeit cards, it’s pretty weird to suggest a return, knowing he could do it again, and who knows, try to scam other people with those same cards.
Normally, I think the copies should be refunded and then destroyed.

·1 year agoThe "return refused" mention is only valid if the buyer changes their mind.
It does not apply in the case of non-compliance.
"it's pretty weird to offer a return, knowing that they can start it again" = I get that, but the refund will not be issued without a return.
