Blocked funds
Summary: earthcollection is worried to see their funds blocked after selling and shipping an item. They wonder why the funds remain unavailable until December despite positive feedback. koalagris and frelonverre explain that this is a normal procedure for occasional sellers, according to eBay’s rules. earthcollection expresses frustration and criticizes the policy as unfair. Other participants, such as lingma85, provide explanations of eBay’s funds retention policy, specifying that it is intended to ensure protection against potential disputes. The tone of the discussion becomes tense, with exchanges about the terminology used by eBay and fears of discrimination against occasional sellers.
I just sold an item, shipped it the next day on 24/11/2023, the buyer receives the package on 27/11/2023 at the latest on 28/11/2023
Why are my funds blocked until 7/12/2023?

I understood your mafia perfectly well.
Unfortunate! You are living dangerously! There are some words it is better not to say!

·2 years agoGood evening @earthcollection
Please don’t take this the wrong way if I add one more thing to everything that’s already been said....
For more than 23 years now, ebay has evolved, made changes that haven’t always been great, but that we have to adapt to...
The current instruction regarding fund retention is the following----->
- keep the funds for +/- 21 days in total, giving the buyer time to possibly request a return in case of an issue with the product... and this applies to all occasional sellers whose profile is silent...
That’s your case, because the last of all your 47 listed sales dates back to last year.... so, for the system in place (automated..) that does not make you a regular seller on the site.
This is not about any special distrust directed at new sellers and/or occasional sellers like you... it’s simply that ebay needs funds available right away for a full or partial refund of a transaction... eBay has made this its policy and if you list items for sale, you accept it as written...
You write " In my opinion, blocked funds equals we’re dealing with someone undesirable/a guilty party
Why not simply put "payment pending" until the buyer has confirmed receipt? it’s still simple and less punitive than "blocked funds""
There is no punishment... it’s just a matter of wording/translation of a text that has to adapt to all languages and customs around the world...
and then, "payments pending" concern .... unpaid items.. You surely wouldn’t want to be lumped in with people who can’t think straight or are simply bad payers .. would you..?
The vocabulary contained in the Terms of Use must be understood by everyone (in theory), but it can sometimes be misinterpreted, and getting worked up over that isn’t worth it...
Regards

OP2 years agoI’m 100% positive feedback. The buyer has the item, not my money,
I think you’re seriously taking advantage of the situation.
If my funds aren’t released upon receipt of the buyer’s item,
believe me, we’ll see what happens next...

·2 years agoYou are here on a user forum: threatening won't get you anywhere...
you're free to contact customer support
The funds will be released within the timeframes provided in the Terms of Service (see the link posted earlier), as for all new sellers or occasional sellers.

OP2 years ago100% positive feedback is equivalent to a new seller/buyer for you, you should review your policy, somewhat mafia-like I think.
That said, as soon as I get my funds back, that will be the last, yes there is competition.

since you thought it was a good idea to send me a DM, I replied there
the rules are the same for everyone, if you think the grass is greener elsewhere, go ahead

once and for all, I'm not an eBay employee; when I don't support something, I don't use it, so you're an occasional seller, end of story
earthcollection
OP2 years agoBad at that too...

you've only made two sales in the last 6 months, the others are more than a year old

OP2 years agoIn my case, the payment status should be " Payment pending" and not funds blocked as if I were a thief or a delinquent.
