Seller refuses to cancel my order before shipping
Summary: asseforlife3 won an auction on eBay but wants to cancel the order. They contacted the seller to cancel because the item has not been shipped yet, but the seller refuses because of cancellation fees. koalagris suggests waiting for a possible non-shipment to open a dispute. felin12 says that, since April, eBay fully reimburses cancellation fees and recommends informing the seller of this policy. In the end, the seller, after discussing it with eBay, agreed to the cancellation and the refund is underway.
How can I get a refund knowing that I was the only bidder and that he hasn't shipped the product yet ?
Kind regards

Posting on the user forum (and especially on a thread dating back to 2023) is not going to give your seller the slightest chance of seeing your message...

It is entirely up to them, and no one will contact them on your behalf.

·2 years agoSo I place a bid on an item I don't want to buy, then I even win the auction, and I don't understand why now I have to pay for something I don't want, well that's not normal!
Welcome to the real world, where when you buy something nice you pay for it with money 🙂

OP3 years agoI really thank the people who provided USEFUL answers as well as eBay support, who gave me good information and took care of the refund.
For the useless replies to come and bash me for my mistake, don’t come acting like people who have never made mistakes in their lives, since everyone makes mistakes and that’s human nature 🙂
I also apologized again to the seller because it’s my fault; since I’ve been on eBay and even elsewhere, this is the first time I’ve asked for information after a purchase, whereas usually I research for at least 3 weeks / 1 month before buying something..
Lesson learned, I can guarantee that, you can close this thread to avoid any more useless comments 🙂

having sold on eBay for a long time, I've often been confronted with this kind of behavior, apologies are fine but if mistakes are human, integrity means owning up and not looking for loopholes in a system to "get your ass out of the brambles"l
it's the fashion these days to agree to help the turncoats

OP3 years agoI fully own my mistake, as I specified above I’m ready to pay these cancellation fees.
Thanks for this very helpful response

my idea of owning up to a mistake is to receive the item and put it back up for sale, not to create problems for a seller who didn’t ask you for anything
because for them, the defects on their seller account are prejudicial

Nothing else to do but wait for the delivery deadline to pass so you can open a dispute for non-receipt:

·3 years agoin that case it will be a return request, come back to this thread at that time.

·3 years agono, and you're right to point that out because in that case a return won't be possible, since it's an error on your part to begin with. But anyway, at this stage your question is premature, since nothing has been sent yet...
have a nice day

·3 years agoHello everyone
@asseforlife3
The seller explained to me that they had cancellation fees,
.........
To cancel an order, you need to read and go through this link, (In particular, read "Cancel an order you placed more than an hour ago")
But first of all, your seller, like many others on Ebay, is not aware that Ebay has changed the credits for fees .
Since April, Ebay has fully refunded sellers following a cancellation request sent through Ebay's system by the buyer.
Please inform your seller of this change by Ebay by sending them the links
or ask them to read your thread.

You had the option to retract your bid, why didn't you do it?
You're lucky that Ebay doesn't practice "shill bidding".
