Damaged package, left at my gate!
Summary: atoucatouc received a package containing a guitar and its case, but the Chronopost courier left it in front of the gate without handing it over in person, which resulted in a damaged case. They contacted the seller, who plans to file a complaint against the delivery company in Spain. Chronopost redirected the issue to eBay, and atoucatouc is looking for advice on how to obtain €200 in compensation. frelonverre suggested opening a dispute for item not as described with the seller, since the seller is responsible for delivery.
Hello,
This morning I “received” a package by Chronopost, which the delivery person didn’t even bother to bring to my door even though I was literally at home, and left standing against my gate before taking off!
It’s a guitar and its case. The instrument is undamaged, but the case is completely smashed, with pieces of plastic loose in the packaging. It was clearly thrown around and mishandled during transport!
The delivery person having “run off,” I therefore couldn’t sign a receipt or file a claim!
I’ve already contacted the seller, who is going to file a complaint with the delivery company in Spain.
I contacted Chronopost, who are sending me back to the merchant site, eBay.
How do I ask for compensation for this case (value ~200€)?
Are there any recourse options?
Thanks!

open a dispute for an item not matching its description against your seller, it’s up to them to ensure the reliability of their shipments
the one who is responsible is the client in this case your seller, the carrier is a service provider
