Delivery option - collection only - seen after sale paid for !
Summary: classycockney purchased an item online, believing it included free delivery, only to realize it was marked as 'collection only' due to a page layout issue. The seller was contacted to either cancel the sale or arrange delivery at an additional cost. lingma85 advised to accept the sale cancellation and suggested contacting eBay's customer service for further assistance. classycockney expressed frustration with the misleading page design that led to the purchase error.
I've just purchased an item that was marked in the order details as free delivery, but in fact in the details on the page it shows that its collection only !!
I didn't see the collection only, purchased the item using paypal, and cannot possibly collect it as it is 300 kms from my home !
It was a simple genuine error, I have sent a message to the seller asking to cancel the sale, or if they could make an exception and send it I would pay the additional costs and be very grateful. Its very misleading on e-bay as even now it is showing as waiting to be sent - even though it is collection only !
Could anyone advise me on the best way to proceed ?

If you want shipping... and IF the seller is okay with it...
you will have to cancel the current transaction and create a new listing and purchase it again because the delivery process is different.
So ask for/accept the cancellation of this transaction.... and if needed, see with Customer Service here------> eBay Customer Service
how to resolve this transaction...
Preferably contact them during business hours and ask to be called back.

OP3 months agoThank you for your reply. I contacted the seller immediately, offered to pay the postage and packing if they are willing, and made a request to cancel the sale. I have also worked out why I didn't see the collection only. As I have delivery addresses in the UK and France, it was shown that the delivery couldn't be made to the UK. So I changed the delivery address to France, and the red flag disappeared - showing free delivery in the order summary. It meant the "collection only" didn't appear ! Clearly a problem with the ebay layout of the page.... and VERY misleading !
