eBay global shipping system and damaged package ...
Summary: oliveraso shared a frustrating experience regarding an item purchased and delivered through eBay's international shipping program. The item arrived damaged, and it is difficult to file a claim. lingma85 suggests contacting the seller with photos of the damaged item before asking eBay to step in, while noting that packaging was probably the seller's responsibility. Confusion about the current procedure to follow on eBay was also mentioned by oliveraso, who remembers a button for reporting problems, which seems to have changed over time.

If you accepted the parcel, that means it had no defect. Otherwise, you would have refused it, logically enough.
If that is the case, it means the inner packaging was inadequate and not secure enough for the item, and therefore the seller is responsible for the damage.
You should see this link---> Customer Guarantee | eBay.fr
Take photos of the item as you found it when you opened the parcel and send them to your seller. See with them how to sort out the problem before involving the site....
and if you involve eBay, don't forget to contact Customer Service to ask not to return a broken item and one fit for the bin (??), which would avoid costly and unnecessary postage fees.
Best regards

OP3 years agoHello,
More specifically, the question I’m asking myself is, in the context of a shipment via the Global shipping system, WHO packed the parcel and prepared the box?
The carrier? Or the seller?
"to ask not to return a broken item and good for the trash (??)"
If someone shipped you a Mona Lisa broken in two, your first reaction would no doubt be to set it on fire, and to curse the carrier and the sender for three generations. In any case, that’s my reaction.

Global shipping or the Pitney Bowes carrier does not take care of packing the items it transports... You can learn more about this carrier here--> PITNEY BOWES Delivery Tracking | Track Pitney Bowes Parcel Delivery - Ship24
Your tracking number is probably the one that P.Bowes assigned to it...
- therefore if the parcel is damaged, they are the ones to go after...
- But if the parcel is fine, but the contents are in pieces, it’s the seller you need to go after...
This is not the first time you have worked with this seller; you should be able to have an easy dialogue with them.
On the other hand, you can return the item to them and get your transaction refunded; the shipping costs are minimal in proportion to the price of the item ----> Respond to a return request as a seller | eBay (if the item is defective, return shipping costs are normally reimbursed.
Kind regards

OP3 years agoHello,
Thanks for your reply. “In my day,” there was a button to report an issue with a purchase, not just the “return” button, I was thrown off!

Indeed, since the beginning of eBay here... we’ve had to adapt to lots of new things that aren’t always easy... Right now, we’ve entered the era of "I’m going to make things complicated for you" and then... "I’ll explain it to you"... It’s like the "viruses" that were invented to sell "antiviruses"... (I’m joking...)
Good evening
Kind regards
