Delivery to a locker or pickup point
Summary: jjbrpeltier is looking to buy parts for his laptop internationally via eBay and is wondering whether this process is reliable, especially regarding taxes and delivery. He wants to know whether the package can be delivered to a pickup point or locker, and whether it’s possible to change the delivery location once the purchase has been made. frelonverre replies that under the Global Shipping Program, delivery options are often limited and there can be complications with customs fees. He advises discussing it directly with the seller to get clarification, but warns that it’s not possible to change the delivery location after the package has been sent.
Hello,
I want to buy parts internationally (Germany, United Kingdom, USA, China, etc.) to repair my laptop
It's outside the EU for some of them, with “eBay international” purchases that take care of VAT, customs, and the like: is it reliable? what are the possible last-minute unpleasant surprises? how can you avoid them?
Also, I want to be delivered to a pickup point or a “locker”: does this option exist for all purchases on eBay, or is home delivery mandatory in some situations?
Does the delivery location appear before paying so you can be sure it will be delivered somewhere other than my home?
Finally, last question: I enter a delivery location, and I have to change it at the last minute: is that only possible with certain carriers? what has been your experience? what rule should be followed?
apart from not having a death - a funeral to attend or avoid an accident or illness with hospitalization … ?
Thank you for your sound advice,
jjbrpeltier

when you ask yourself that kind of question, whether anywhere in the world or in France, you ask the seller
no, once it has been sent, it is no longer possible to modify it
it's enay not amagiz

well, what a demanding eBayer you are, you're asking for absolute reliability for risky purchases
many countries have decided to go through the global shipping program and have trained sellers so well that they refuse to use any other mode of transport
basically, that means tracking is impossible, that customs fees are collected upfront (when they are often requested again on arrival) and that you don't really have much choice about where the package arrives
in short, you're preparing for long negotiations
