eBay International Shipping: USA to the EU
Summary: laetifany shares their frustration with eBay’s international delivery service, where they have repeatedly been asked to pay VAT and customs fees twice for items shipped from the USA. They mention that eBay instructs them to pay again and claims to refund the excess, a process they find unacceptable. francexpressdeal suggests the issue may be due to missing IOSS numbers, but laetifany clarifies that eBay itself handles these deliveries and should include these numbers. lingma85 advises following eBay’s refund procedure but laetifany remains dissatisfied, pointing out the lack of accountability and assurance from eBay's system.
Hello, this is the several times now that I’ve ordered things from the USA with eBay international shipping, which takes care of collecting VAT as well as customs fees and taxes, and it’s common for the carrier to then ask for these fees to be paid again once the package arrives at its destination. This is a completely abnormal situation. eBay says you have to pay again and then they refund the overcharged amount, but that is not an acceptable situation. I think from now on I’ll systematically refuse the parcels. I shouldn’t have to pay for something again because the system eBay предлагает is malfunctioning. This situation has been going on for a long time now and eBay has never fixed this problem that I’ve reported several times. As a result, I hardly order anything anymore and I go through other sales platforms or else directly with sellers (I pay VAT and customs duties only once, upon receipt)
Have you ever been confronted with this situation?

·1 month agoHello @laetifany
it's a very common "problem" linked to the fact that some sellers don't include the IOSS number on their shipment. This number lets them know that you've already paid import VAT at the time of purchase. If it's not indicated, the carrier can't guess that you've already paid and so asks you to do it.
So this has nothing to do with a site malfunction (for once...)

OP1 month agoNo,.
I'm talking to you about items shipped via the eBay international shipping service (which therefore has its own IOSS number!)
The seller is not at fault since they're not in charge of shipping; eBay takes care of that.
That's the whole problem!

in that case, check the issue directly with the site’s customer support.

OP1 month agoOn the phone, they’re telling me to pay again!
^^
I imagine I’m not the only one who’s run into this issue; I was wondering how others dealt with it. If they had a trick, because I refuse to pay twice without any guarantee that Ebay will reimburse me afterward.

If you want to get your package back... do what’s asked of you and then... ask eBay for a refund of the overpayment. Be sure to get proof of your payment to the carrier.
See this link---> Paying taxes on purchases made on eBay | eBay
As for the refund, the request is made via a link at the bottom of the page.
Best regards
.

OP1 month ago · EditedSo basically, it’s up to the buying customer to make up for Ebay’s malfunction and advance fees even though they’ve already paid them? Fees paid without Ebay guaranteeing reimbursement. That’s totally abnormal. I don’t even understand how Ebay can dare ask that, it’s up to Ebay to solve the problem, not the customer! Besides, last time the carrier who delivered to me wasn’t able to provide an invoice, he just had his delivery slip for me to sign, so I had no proof of payment. What am I supposed to do in that case? Refuse the delivery??? None of this is normal.

·1 month agoDon’t lose sight of the fact that ebay doesn’t sell anything... It’s the sellers who use ebay who are at fault...
So.. you have to be a little understanding.. or buy from the shop nearby and thus avoid these little inconveniences..
The choice is limited...
Kind regards
