Mondial Relay versus La Poste
Summary: A participant expresses frustration about La Poste’s high rates for international shipments within the EU compared with Mondial Relay, citing an example of a lower cost with the latter. felin12 adds that there is a limitation on Mondial Relay’s insurance, which only covers shipments up to 500 euros, and suggests considering other carriers for higher-value items.
For international Intra EU shipments, there’s no more hesitation. Sending a 1kg parcel to the Netherlands cost me 6.50 euros. The postal rate was 24.70 euros. Details: the label for 1kg + tracking with the online stamp "small international parcel" up to 2 kg reserved for professionals. A rip-off! For Europe, the small international parcel rate, which is supposed to favor e-commerce sellers for shipments up to 2kg without going through Colissimo International, is actually 40% more expensive than Colissimo International, available to everyone, pro and non-pro, to the European Union. The reason is that La Poste had the brilliant idea 2/3 years ago to merge the Europe and World rates based on the "World" rate, of course. So at the moment you pay as much for a shipment to Belgium or the USA. All that’s left is to hope that Mondial Relais includes the USA in its offer as quickly as possible.

One downside with Mondial Relay, their insurance only covers up to €500.
Beyond that, check with other carriers.
