Summary: berset70 expressed frustration about an eBay transaction where an item they sold arrived broken at the buyer’s place. Despite good packaging, the buyer was refunded without berset70 getting the item back, and eBay wants to take the amount from their account. koalagris advised filing a claim with the carrier and mentioned the importance of insuring parcels. frelonverre suggested that closing an eBay account requires settling all ongoing disputes.
Hello, I made a sale that arrived broken at the buyer’s despite proper packaging. The buyer was refunded (I did not receive the item back, which I no longer want since it’s broken). I can’t get in touch with Chronoshop .... and Ebay wants to deduct the amount from my account ?? So I no longer have the item and I’m the one who pays, and Chronoshop and Ebay don’t intervene .... What kind of way is this to do things? How are we supposed to go about contacting them for REAL ? I’m considering closing my account because right now it’s total nonsense on Ebay. Thank you for your attention

I'm thinking of closing my account because right now Ebay is a mess.
that's another story, to close an account everything has to be settled

·2 years agoHello @berset70
When a package arrives damaged, the buyer must make reservations upon delivery; the seller fully refunds the buyer and files a claim with the carrier to be compensated (we're talking about damage to the outside of the package; if the packaging is intact, the carrier will cite a lack of protection on the sender's part). Hence the importance of always insuring shipments for their full value, because in the event of breakage (or loss), it's the seller who will be out of pocket.
If the buyer made no reservations upon delivery, the carrier will not compensate.
You can find the carrier's contact details on the web (it's between you and them: it's not eBay's responsibility).
Best regards

OP2 years agoThe buyer made a complaint upon receipt for a damaged item... me too
I sent the photo of the item in good condition and the buyer sent the photo of the broken item...
The carrier is no longer responding and eBay wants to charge me the amount for the item.
Do you think that’s normal?

·2 years agoWe're talking about claims made to the carrier, right? (the buyer upon delivery, and you with Chronopost)
The dispute on eBay isn't likely to trigger compensation from the carrier, that's got nothing to do with it.
"Do you think that's normal?" = that the seller refunds the buyer, yes, as for the carrier, on what grounds did they reject your claim?
