Lost item (valuable cards) La Poste
Summary: luxurious23 shared their experience of sending valuable Pokémon cards via La Poste by tracked letter, without sufficient coverage, which led to the package being lost. felin12 and francexpressdeal advised using registered services with insurance to avoid these problems. frelonverre voiced criticism of the initial choice of shipping method, stressing the importance of taking extra precautions. The discussion included exchanges about responsibility for losses and the options available to insure shipments. luxurious23 expressed frustration with the current postal system.
Hello,
Has anyone ever sent valuable Pokémon cards with La Poste just as tracked mail, with no guarantee at all? And then of course the post office loses the mail or it never arrives at its destination.
In that case, are you just totally screwed, or have people managed to get reimbursed for the value of the mail (and not just a refund of the postage...)
Thanks for your feedback

what do you mean by declared value @frelonverre

The Ad valorem option:
It lets you specifically insure the value of your parcel in increments of €100, up to €1,000, in case of loss or damage. It is a paid option and available for all destinations.

OP1 year agoso yes, I made the mistake of sending it tracked, but I wasn’t supposed to know all the ins and outs of the post office, I couldn’t have imagined that my mail would have been lost/stolen (yes, once again envelopes containing Pokémon cards are different from regular mail, so pretty recognizable) and that if that happened only the shipping costs could be refunded.
the post office completely washes its hands of it by saying that losses are part of the risks.
basically all of this is badly done because it means they do everything so that we send things with the highest fees from the start, namely registered mail; with tracked shipments there’s 0 control, 0 scans, really useless.

"if that’s all you have to say, what’s the point of opening it"
Given your behavior, I’d tell you to " sort yourself out " but since I’m nice and it’s the last day of the year, I’ll still tell you " Well, sort yourself out " 😘
Kisses everyone

well, I’m going to be more " strict " than my colleagues, you brought this on yourselves and you found it

OP1 year agoWhat are you talking about, so you condone this kind of behavior and take advantage of the person's mistakes, nice mentality

It is worth thinking before writing and avoiding thinking you’re in a world of softies
each of the "whiners" who come to vent on the forum thinks they are protected on this site
the only protection is your distrust of the system, don’t leave any way out to the crooks, any more than to the bots that run this site, programmed as they are to protect buyers
so you send price cards with an unsecured shipping method on a site that systematically reimburses buyers honest or not, all to save three pennies on a price sale
well and depending on the amount, it’s registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt, or even declared value, that said, it’s the buyer who pays this extra cost
not you
so I’ll add one more layer: sweep in front of your own door, the lesson will do you good
luxurious23
OP1 year agoThe registered mail guarantee should be enough with regard to the post, the acknowledgment of receipt is only with regard to eBay, is that it?

·1 year ago@luxurious23
tracked letter is not recommended, it doesn't have proof of delivery
in your case registered ad valorem with acknowledgment of receipt, to avoid any trouble and prove delivery to ebay
you need to plan for everything, both on the site side and for buyers
and once again, shipping is paid by the buyer

·1 year agoHello @luxurious23
for a tracked letter shipment, you will be compensated up to 3 times the postage value, but under no circumstances the value of the item itself.
From a certain amount, and especially for sensitive items like Pokémon cards, you should offer registered shipping only.
You still have cards worth over 100 euros for which you keep offering tracked letter shipping. Here, it’s clear that this is an invitation to potential scammers...
luxurious23
OP1 year agoBy scammers, are you referring to the people working at the post office?

"by scammers, are you referring to the people working at the post office?"
Absolutely not... They have no idea what’s in your shipment. Your buyers, on the other hand, know perfectly well...

"those who have experience may know, send bubble pouch etc"
because after a certain amount of time on the job, does the postal service offer its mail carriers bionic eyes to see through envelopes? 🤔
Stop obsessing over the Post Office... Sure, there can be problems, but they’re still tiny compared with the problems coming directly from buyers...

@luxurious23
If you insure your shipment, in the event of a loss recognized by the post office, yes, you are reimbursed up to the amount of the insurance taken out.
Otherwise, if you don’t have insurance, be prepared to cry
best regards
