I’m using this post to try to inform people who buy items abroad, especially outside the EEC. As for me, I’m now used to paying VAT twice for items bought in the USA and getting refunded for the duplicate charge. But I’m thinking of others, of all those who confuse VAT, customs fees, and handling fees. When you pay VAT twice without protesting, that’s blatant fraud; I can’t think of any other word for it. Ebay collects it, and so does La Poste... and apparently that doesn’t bother anyone, no one informs you that you’ve paid it twice. Be attentive and informed on the subject. Best regards to you all.
