Slanderous, dishonest, and defamatory evaluation
Summary: Anonymous User shares their difficult experience with a buyer on eBay, where a transaction for a €49 motherboard went wrong. The buyer canceled the order, disputed the shipping terms, and left defamatory comments despite Anonymous User's efforts to resolve the issue. Other participants advise reporting the buyer to eBay, blocking the buyer, and contacting customer service to remove the negative review. The debate is lively about how the situation could be handled better in the future.
Hello to all members of the eBay forum,
I want to share my recent experience as a seller on eBay and ask for your opinions and advice on the situation. I recently had a transaction with a buyer that unfortunately took a difficult turn.
The buyer, who was initially interested in an item priced at €49, canceled the order, claiming issues related to the payment method and shipping costs. Despite my many attempts to find an agreement and resolve the problem, every proposal I made was rejected.
Not only did the buyer refuse a mutual agreement regarding shipping, but they also used defamatory terms in their feedback, alleging dishonesty on my part without any basis. At every step, I showed transparency and a willingness to cooperate, but the refusals, lies, and slander persisted.
I am frustrated to see that despite my efforts to resolve the dispute, the buyer chose to lie deliberately in their public comments. I want to emphasize that all offers of solutions from my side were rejected without any valid explanation.
I am sharing these details in the hope of getting advice from the eBay community on how to deal with this situation and the best approach to resolving this dispute. Thank you in advance for your input.

·2 years agoGood evening @Anonymous
You were only offering this item for in-person pickup = no shipping possible (or to be considered afterward given the difference between the shipping and pickup process).
You don't say whether the buyer has paid...
if that's not the case it's very simple:
https://www.ebay.fr/help/selling/getting-paid/rsoudre-les-litiges-pour-objet-non-pay-avec-les-acheteurs?id=4137&st=3&pos=1&query=R%C3%A9soudre%20les%20litiges%20pour%20objet%20non%20pay%C3%A9%20avec%20les%20acheteurs&intent=achat%20non%20pay%C3%A9&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1091
(after the dispute is closed you can ask customer service to remove the feedback)
best regards

If you have proof of your email exchanges... you may be able to use this link----> Report a problem with a buyer | eBay
Only you know what is in your exchanges and what can serve as proof...

OP2 years agoGood evening, @lingma85 and @koalagris
Here is the correction of your text:
"Thank you, I thought eBay had access to all the exchanges...
I am going to contact them about this immediately.
Yes, except that he pretended and then even apologized, still going against his own words:
I will try to summarize: I put up an ad without shipping for a motherboard at €49 (no shipping).
The buyer pays me and I contact him to arrange a hand delivery, as described in the ad.
He sends me a message saying he thought it was delivery via Mondial Relay, I tell him no.
He tells me I should just give it to him without asking my opinion...
Then I offer him pickup, he tells me he is far from the location, so I relist the ad at the same price with €6 shipping fees!
He tells me he can't see the ad, send me the link after you relisted it, blah blah blah...
Then he negotiates the price, which I refuse because after 4 hours of dishonest exchanges, I decide to re-evaluate the price of my item since this gentleman no longer wants to buy it at the price he had paid and cover the shipping and handling fees...
Then there are insults and disrespect with a final message from him, I quote:
You know the rest...
Honestly, if eBay does not remove the feedback, I am leaving the website.
Thank you for your help and responses. I will contact support, they will decide."

You write-----> "Sincerely, if no removal of the feedback by eBay, I am leaving the website."
For the negative to be removed... you have to ask the buyer for it.... and even then, that would only be the comment...
so, it’s not a sure thing with your exchanges in the feedback comments...
Display and edit the feedback left for sellers | eBay
The simplest thing might be to keep this account for making your purchases.... and open a 2nd one for selling ...
but before that... take a quick look at the site’s T&Cs to avoid such things and/or come to the forum as soon as you smell trouble on a transaction.... making things worse serves no purpose...
You should have stopped the fake dialogue as soon as you realized he was stringing you along with Mondial Relay and opened a dispute for unpaid item... that would have been more sensible, in my opinion.
Kind regards

well, I went to check out the evaluation in question, and I only see two people who had trouble getting along; you messed... up & with your announcement, and it turned into a circus
as for the threat to leave the site, believe me eBay couldn't care less

OP2 years agoAt what point did I mess up? The listing was written without delivery! I proposed a solution that was refused and the guy messed me around... in private and in public...

my friend, you have me...d in your dealings with your buyer, your listing was clear, you should stick to the terms of your listing
any workaround to salvage a sale is risky and in your case leads to a problem

OP2 years agoPrecisely, the listing indicated that there was no shipping! I canceled the sale because the buyer refused to come pick up the item in person. Despite this, eBay allows the buyer to leave feedback, even if the sale was canceled because he didn't want to carry out the in-person handoff as described in the listing
