What’s the point of following eBay’s recommendations???
Summary: biarritz-photo expresses frustration after following eBay's recommendations during a transaction with a dishonest buyer, but did not receive the support expected from eBay to remove unfair negative feedback. They mention having refunded the buyer despite confirmed receipt of the items and criticize eBay's impersonal response. Considering the drop in sales, biarritz-photo is thinking about switching platforms. Another participant, Anonymous User, encourages the change.
After 14 years on ebay and with more than 20,000 positive ratings, I thought I could hope for eBay's support against a bad-faith buyer. But NO! I sent this buyer the 2 items from his order by tracked mail; he did receive his shipment, but taking advantage of the fact that the destination post office forgot to scan the delivery, he of course claimed not to have received it (unfortunately, classic, according to the post office, which confirmed delivery to me). So, still following eBay's rules, I nevertheless refunded this unscrupulous buyer. Continuing on his path, he gave us 2 negative ratings (one for each item in his order). I dared hope that eBay would respond favorably to my request to have these ratings removed (having scrupulously respected eBay's rules), but no: I received a stereotyped, generic response that took none of the information I had provided into account. Disappointing — we're really dealing with robots that absolutely do not take into account the situations or profiles of sellers. Meanwhile, sales on eBay have practically fallen by half in 6 months. I'm coming to wonder whether to move to another marketplace
