attitude toward buyers
Summary: chau_96087 shares his experience as a novice seller on eBay, having received complaints from foreign customers claiming to have received damaged items and asking for a refund. *miss-tigri* suggests asking for photos of the damage and checking whether the packaging was sufficient, while explaining that eBay does not protect against disputes over items that are not as described. They suggest solutions such as asking for the item to be returned or offering a partial or full refund.
Hello
Private seller here, I’m absolutely new to selling second-hand items.
I sold 3 items abroad and they all were the subject of a message that basically said “item received damaged, I am requesting a refund of ...€.” (the buyers in Poland and Holland are professionals)
Is this a common practice that you have to deal with? Do you have any advice on the attitude to adopt. Does Ebay protect us or automatically side against us?
I’ve decided to remove my remaining items and suspend my sales.

Did you ask the buyers for photos of the damage?
Maybe your packaging isn’t sufficient.
Ebay doesn’t protect you against a dispute for an item not as described.
You can ask for the item to be returned, offer a partial or full refund ..
