bank details
Summary: domiane expressed concerns about eBay’s request to provide bank details, which led to his account being restricted and funds from a sale being held. Several participants advised updating the bank information to recover the payments, but domiane decided not to do so and may have lost access to the funds. Other participants, such as watchstrega, also questioned the safety of eBay’s request for bank information, pointing out the lack of secure alternatives. Alternative solutions, such as micro-deposits, were suggested to verify bank accounts.
Hello, while I have been selling on Ebay for 20 years and paying and receiving payments via Paypal, I was asked to provide my bank details - which I do not want to do (that means authorizing Ebay direct debits from my account without being able to control it). My access has been "restricted" - not a very friendly method for Ebay members. I had one sale that was paid for by this type of transfer. However, the funds have been blocked since then. I can't release either the sale or the funds. So I have stopped selling on Ebay and am thinking about leaving this platform that used to work so well.

·2 years agoHello everyone. Asking for a bank account verification is sensible. However, in my case, I am being asked to log in to my bank account - which means entering my username and password - from eBay. Since this information - which is not even requested by our agencies - is highly sensitive, I do not understand eBay's stubborn refusal to offer an alternative. Having been on the platform for 24 years, this abhorrent requirement is invasive. So no

The alternative is the micro-transfers process:

It may be related to the micro-transfer verification.

·2 years agohello,
there may be something fishy going on. when you're asked for your account number and a direct debit authorization, you've probably already given the same thing to lots of people. ( phone operator etc ).
but being asked for your login details is indeed something to check. in any case, you need to make sure you're being redirected to your bank's real site.

·2 years agoHello
You’ll need to update your bank details to receive the payment for your sale
https://www.ebay.fr/help/selling/getting-paid/recevoir-le-paiement-des-objets-vendus?id=4814&st=3&pos=3&query=Recevoir%20le%20paiement%20des%20objets%20vendus&intent=Paiement%20bloqu%C3%A9%20&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1448
then you can close your account ..

OP2 years agoThank you for your replies. I will not share my bank details and the sale will need to be canceled, which I have done on my end. You can keep the funds and return them to the buyer.
Regrettably

·2 years agoHello
@domiane
If you cancel the sale voluntarily or if the sale is refunded by Ebay to the buyer following a dispute opened for non-receipt.
You will still remain liable for the fixed part (i.e. 0.35 cts) to Ebay and you will not be able to close your account.
Worth reading (you may find a solution).
