eBay is skimping on reimbursing dispute fees
Summary: flofigurine72 shared their experience of closing their eBay store and encountering disputes that led to full refunds because eBay didn't recognize their tracking proof. They were surprised that eBay retained the commission fees despite the refunds. francexpressdeal explained that conditions for reimbursement weren't met, and it wasn't related to the store's closure. frelonverre commented on eBay's reluctance to release accounts quickly. flofigurine72 expressed disappointment over the changes in eBay over their 14 years of selling, with plans to leave the platform once all issues are settled.
Small question
I closed my eBay shop on April 30 before leaving on vacation (and for good, off the site too)
I took 3 disputes during that time, all 3 of which were closed with a full refund because I had not provided valid proof of delivery (like, it’s way too hard for eBay to take the tracking number from the order like all the other sites, but whatever)
Since I had closed the shop and the accounts, I was at 0, so the 3 amounts were taken from my bank account
Fair enough
But what surprised me was not that for the 3 transactions I refunded the 3 amounts in full, but that the credit for the fees doesn’t exist
eBay happily skimmed the 3 commissions with not a hint of remorse, even though it would have been so easy for them to check the tracking under the order
So my question after looking through the site’s terms is that I can’t find whether this is allowed or whether they just decided once again to screw me over
Looking forward to reading you

without the slightest remorse
already remorse does not have a place in this e-commerce world
I closed my eBay shop on April 30 before going on vacation (and definitely from the site tooi
you will see that they hate losing accounts and that it will take time once all the amounts due are settled, something like six months once all the possible disputes (fraudulent use of credit cards) are closed

OP1 year agoIndeed, remorse is out of the question
Yeah, I have a feeling the next 6 months are going to be funny
For now I’ve just closed the shop, I haven’t permanently closed my account yet while the 2021 issues get sorted out, but I wouldn’t have any regrets about doing it
Unfortunately the site has changed a lot in 14 years of selling on it, it’s very sad for the future but oh well, we’re not going to cry for them ^^

·1 year agoHello anyway @flofigurine72
it all depends on the original problem and whether or not you got involved in the dispute.
And since you don't explain anything about that, it's impossible to answer you.

OP1 year agoI didn't step in, I completely shut down for a week since everything was in order and I was up to date on my orders
But I find it so crazy that eBay is incapable of taking tracking under the order (especially since in the event of a dispute when you have to provide the tracking it is already pre-registered)
After that, it's mainly to know whether there have been other cases like this or if it's just a penalty because I closed my shop (especially since, if I remember correctly, I already had the same thing happen during my last vacation, when I did get the fee credit)

Given what you explain, you have your answer: the conditions were not met to claim a refund of certain commissions. So this has absolutely nothing to do with the closing of your account...

OP1 year agoOk so a sanction really confirms my idea of leaving this toxic site ^^
Too bad, the sellers seem nice though, from the exchanges on the forum ^^

I told you the exact opposite... :
"So this has absolutely nothing to do with closing your account..."
Anyway, we’re going in circles here and the answer to your initial question has already been given.
Have a good rest of your day.
