I'd like to close my account, but ...
Summary: nanwastee0 decided to remove their listings and close their eBay account after running into issues with funds being held during their first sale. Concerns about delayed payment and difficulties with customer service prompted this decision. *miss-tigri* warns that eBay may require cancellation fees before the account is closed. Other participants, such as phtous-_0, also express their dissatisfaction with eBay’s practices and offer their support to nanwastee0. A discussion about possible differences between eBay Belgium and France regulations is also raised.
So, for the past week I decided to put my video game collection up for sale, so I signed up on eBay, made the listings and put them up for sale, etc.
I made my first sale this morning (65 euros). The problem is that the funds are blocked until December 1st. There's no way I'm sending anything to the buyer and hoping for a month that I'll get paid or not, especially since I also get this message:
"Your payouts will remain blocked until you update your account information."
Since 10 a.m. this morning I've been trying in vain to sort out this problem, but nothing works.
I entered everything that needed to be entered when I signed up (with confirmation email) and I have no clear details about what the problem could be.
After reading a huge number of messages from people (sellers) in distress here and there, I decided to cancel the sale and close my account.
First of all, I'm not selling for fun but out of necessity, I need this money.
I'm an honest person and I have absolutely no intention of ripping people off.
I've already lost a Saturday with all this verification and other nonsense. I refuse to stress myself out for weeks having to chase customer service, which, from all the feedback I've read, doesn't really care much about its users, or keep being sent from one department to another constantly.
So I decided to cancel the sale, remove my listings and close my account.
Do you think that's the right thing to do, or am I likely to run into problems when closing my account?
Thanks for your future replies.

·2 years agoHello. "e-bay" couldn’t care less about the terms of sale! Their principle is to rake in as much cash as possible in order to invest it better ... None of that takes any account of sellers or buyers! I’m banned from bidding because my bank **bleep** up ...! Backroom deals between friends ??
All my respect and support!

Hello ??? 😕
You are registered in Belgium...
Here we’ll only pass along the links and eBay T&Cs for FRANCE (which therefore won’t be of any use to you).
= see with ebay.be directly.

OP2 years agoIndeed, I forgot to say hello, my apologies.
Basically, it shouldn’t change too much between ebay.be and ebay.fr when it comes to closing an account. I just wanted to know whether my process for canceling a sale might end up causing me problems.
Given everything I’ve read in this forum, I don’t want to know anything about ebay anymore.
It’s way too much hassle and, on top of that, you’re not even sure you’ll get paid, and if there’s a problem, customer service always answers completely off the mark. I don’t want to get into a battle that may well lead nowhere and ruin my life... Especially since my funds are blocked until December 1st.

·2 years agoHello
Following the cancellation of the transaction,eBay may charge you fees
https://www.ebay.fr/help/selling/getting-paid/annuler-une-commande-en-tant-que-vendeur?id=4136&st=3&pos=3&query=Annuler%20une%20commande%20en%20tant%20que%20vendeur&intent=Annuler&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1090
and as long as that isn't sorted out,it'll be impossible to close the account ...
When you want to sell on a site ,it's better to know how it works before😉

OP2 years agoHello, thank you for your reply.
What bothered me most was seeing that for my first sale the funds are blocked until December 1.
And after a lot of reading about how to resolve this issue, I practically only saw comments from people on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Which, frankly, really put me off, let's say. I don't want to be under pressure with every sale, “hoping that”.
You're right, I should have done more research before signing up...

·2 years agoHello. "e-bay" has no compassion or interest except for money! The individual doesn't matter!! Capitalists, basically ... It's not normal to struggle to distance yourself from these people who take without concessions or compassion ... They twist the rules and play on the wording. "Thanks" to them for making us discover other sites ..!
Not fair & not understanding, "e-bay" has no business on OUR territory !
Unconditional support.
