Blocked payments
Summary: surikat75, a professional seller on eBay since 2009, is facing a hold on their funds after sales totaling more than €3,000. Despite daily calls to customer service, the situation remains unchanged, prompting surikat75 to consider filing a complaint for abusive practices. Other participants shared similar experiences, suggesting that such holds may be common, particularly because of identity checks or changes to eBay's payment system. Several contributors recommend consulting legal forums or contacting mediators to resolve this type of issue.
Hello everyone,
I've been a professional seller since 2009 on Ebay and from April 11 to 15 I sold items worth more than €3,000. I should point out that the customer paid for all their purchases and received their orders without any problem. My funds are available but no payout is scheduled and they are still blocked to this day without any valid explanation from customer service. I call customer service every day and I always get the same answer: be patient! On April 21 I receive a message from Ebay informing me that my complaint has been resolved but still no payout to my account. I have suspended all my listings on Ebay and I am considering filing a complaint for abusive practice. Thank you for your advice on the procedure to follow.

·2 years ago> Hello, eBay has been blocking my account and therefore my payouts for months. The micro-deposits that prove it’s really your account aren’t being made, or else they don’t work. I call them, and they always have something to say in response so they won’t unblock it. They’re working with our money in the meantime.

Hello
We need to verify your identity and check that you are indeed the holder of the bank account added on eBay.
For the ID document, a light reflection that hides part of your first name is enough for us to be unable to accept the photo, for example.
For sending the ID document, make sure it is:
- In color
- Front and back
- Fully visible (The edges must not be cut off in the photo)
- Information readable
You can contact me directly on our social networks => Facebook / Instagram / Twitter
I will then review the documents and confirm where the blockage is coming from. If necessary, I will send a priority verification request.
Best regards
François

·3 years agoif I may say so,
if it's a security issue, why don't you check buyers' accounts
Apparently it doesn't bother you that a buyer could spend money that doesn't belong to them
but when a seller collects money into an account that doesn't belong to them, that seems more reprehensible to you?? what a "s.c.a.m.m.e.r." the seller is.
isn't there some absurdity there?
If security were the real reason, you would ask all new registrants to prove their identity and you would check their account before listing and/or purchasing
Oh no, I forgot eBay's huge gain on the backs of sellers
You don't give a damn that buyers pay with money that doesn't belong to them since it brings you in money.
On the other hand, waiting for a seller to complete a sale allows you to block funds that don't belong to you by making them grow for as long as possible, asking and asking again for copies of documents, even though that isn't justified since, let me remind you, it's to deposit funds into an account and not withdraw them
in general it's the opposite that is checked, that whoever wants to pay with an account is indeed the account holder.
Moreover, from what I read here, you refuse IBANs if they do not match exactly the seller account name with you.
It's a joke (well, not really) apparently you're not aware that on the net we often use usernames and not our full first and last names.
I am more and more glad to have left you

·3 years agoHello,
I have exactly the same problem ...
The payment is blocked for no reason ... I'm also calling every day, I also receive the same emails ... I just looked online, apparently you have to get the FEFAD involved, The Federation of E-commerce and Distance Selling and ask a mediator to handle the matter ... I'm seeing this today ... Otherwise I'll call my legal department to see how they view the situation ...

Hello @surikat75 ,
I'm sorry to read that you're having a bad experience on eBay.
If you were a regular seller in 2009, that doesn't necessarily mean you still are in 2023. This is due to the transition to the new payment services following the end of the partnership between eBay and PayPal; seller accounts were reset to 0.
As mentioned by @felin12 : New sellers or occasional sellers will have their funds blocked for up to 14 days.
Once a few sales and positive feedback have been accumulated, this type of block will no longer be active.
However, several reasons are possible:
- Bank verification not validated
- Occasional seller block
- Block pending confirmation of delivery
- Block due to the item's category and price
Without reviewing your account or the orders concerned, I won't be able to confirm the exact reason for the funds being blocked. In addition, this is personal information that I cannot share on the forum.
I invite you to send me a message on our social networks: Facebook / Instagram / Twitter
I will then look into exactly where the block on your funds is coming from.
Best regards
François

OP3 years agoHello,
I received an email yesterday from Ebay asking me to send a document proving my identity, which I did immediately. I am informed that this verification can take 5 days, a delay that seems very long to me...
Especially since I regularly buy on Ebay and my identity does not seem to pose any problem when purchasing.
It took me 3 weeks, maybe more since no timeframe is given to me for the transfer of funds into my account, to receive my funds. This practice, which does not exist on any other platform, is very penalizing for a professional seller.

·3 years agoHello,
I'm running into exactly the same problem! My money is blocked without any explanation, Ebay is asking me for an ID, which I've done twice and nothing is happening! If anyone has a solution, because Ebay seems to be making a joke of its customers.
Best regards.

·2 years agoSo, whether we're occasional sellers or not, it's OUR money that eBay blocks to work with. Over thousands of sellers for months, that adds up

@surikat75
You may be considered an occasional seller by ebay.
Excerpt:
New sellers or occasional sellers will see their transactions blocked until they have put good selling practices in place. This helps sellers prove themselves and build up a significant sales history on eBay. New sellers are usually blocked for 14 days, but sometimes longer.

You can have been a seller for X amount of time, but eBay must have a quota on the number of annual sales to be considered a regular seller; below that, you’re classified as an occasional seller, which involves certain restrictions.

If, since the implementation of the new eBay payment system, you have regularly received payments and you are not considered an occasional seller by eBay.
I don't think it's a problem with the site's treasurer.
But it may indeed be the transaction amount that is subject to a more detailed verification and I doubt that eBay customer service would be able to keep you informed about it.
best regards

·2 years agoTotally false. I have far less than 1000 euros and my account is still blocked for one excuse or another.

·2 years agoFor 9 months now my account has been kept blocked under one pretext or another. Meanwhile, Ebay has been working with our money
sade-5673
·2 years agoYes, so what, just because eBay considered a few things doesn’t mean you should deprive the seller, or apparently the sellers, of their money. The transactions went well, the seller sends his items, the buyer benefits, but the only ones left out in this affair are the sellers. It’s total injustice and I think French justice should get involved in these matters because many sellers are being harmed and their money is being used by eBay. I’m really going to file a complaint against eBay because in a commercial transaction we are forced to trust each other and here I trusted this sales platform, which made me lose an ongoing deal worth more than €250k because they kept my money without explanation and without the slightest wrongdoing on my part. I followed their instructions to the letter, in the end I wasn’t able to carry out my transaction!!!! More than €8000 that they refuse to pay me without there being anything wrong, just because they think they need to protect the eBay community. At the end of my transactions they blocked the account as they wanted without notice, without proper explanations, a fraudulent behavior on their part that requires justice to decide between us because there I don’t even know why they are not proceeding with the payment?!
