European SEPA bank-to-bank transfer
Summary: aigon_mimosa expressed concerns about an eBay seller based in Germany who refuses to accept SEPA bank transfers, despite the added security of this payment method. Several participants explained that eBay handles all payments to avoid direct transactions, which limits the payment options offered. aigon_mimosa mentioned communication with eBay customer service, which states that SEPA can be used but without warranty coverage, and expressed frustration at comments from some participants that were deemed unconstructive. The discussion thread was closed due to off-topic drift and tension.
Madam, Sir, hello,
I contacted a professional seller to find out whether or not he accepts European SEPA bank transfers; he is located in the FRG (Germany).
But he replies with something that makes me pause and forces me to have serious doubts:
« The financial processing is handled entirely by Ebay. Please contact Ebay customer service directly with your request. »
Which translates as:
« The financial processing is handled entirely by Ebay. Please address your request directly to Ebay customer service. »
I must also admit that this professional seller seems to have several accounts under several different names.
However, I do not understand why European SEPA bank transfers are not the norm, since they are ultra-secure, much more so than bank cards and other payment methods; your contact is required to provide you with their full account number, BIC, etc.; so we can immediately see where the bank account is, in a tax haven, etc.
If the seller is German, lives in Berlin, and his account is in a bank in Berlin, no risk.
If he says he is in Berlin and his account is in Hon Kong, we do not buy!
Thank you for all your attention.

To conclude, your various interventions on this topic, or on others, are, as one member pointed out, completely off topic. You do use polished language, containing technical and legal terms, but for the most part these are completely wrong and cannot hide your unfamiliarity with the site and how it works.
Your claims are more than approximate, and I can only invite you to review your work.
Your phrasing may work on other forums, but here you are not fooling anyone. The various contributors have given you the appropriate solutions and answers, and their knowledge of the site far exceeds yours, which clearly seems to be limited to the bare minimum.
It is up to you whether or not to follow their advice, but your fine speeches will bring you no solution.
Best regards

Well no, the topic, I’m the one who started it, in fact, by principle, I can’t be off topic, it’s your replies that are; the proof being, what were your interventions useful for, just personal attacks, even though I’m not your buddy and I don’t even know who you are, and I didn’t even address you!
It’s crazy that ignorance for some becomes an argumentative point!

·3 years agoYou addressed the members of this forum by posting a topic, so yes, we can say that it was you who addressed people and not the other way around. As a result, it was you who came looking for an answer, an answer that seems to escape you, because you are unable to understand it.
Now, you do not seem to have the ability to take in information that is nevertheless basic. There is nothing mysterious about it, yet apparently it is beyond your means.
So we can do nothing for you.

Do you have nothing better to do than pollute this forum? The weather is nice, the birds are singing, try to live anyway...💀
You complain about not getting a response, but did you even ask a question?
aigon_mimosa
OP3 years ago@max2661953 , « but did you ask a question? »
Well yes, right from the start, all you had to do was know how to read and not see yourself as in conquered territory and say to anyone you don't know
« Do you have nothing better to do than pollute this forum? »
Plus 25,000 posts, who wouldn't have anything better to do?
@iodangie , « You addressed the members of this forum »
No! I addressed those who might have the answer, not those who live off gossip, denigration, and resentment.
===================================
So, I have a new response from Ebay customer service, this time from Meryem.bel, the previous one being from Maryem O.
SEPA is not forbidden, but it does not fall under the Broken item, not delivered, not as described Insurance, so Ebay does not offer SEPA as a payment method, because it cannot block the money while the product is being received.
On the other hand, in a private exchange between the seller and the buyer, the two can agree to use SEPA, so outside Broken item or not delivered Insurance.
The SEPA symbol present on some professional stores has not been updated and therefore has not been removed, which it should have been with regard to the Insurance contract that Ebay offers, but which is not an obligation.

Your seller asked you to go through eBay, because he clearly does not want to go outside eBay’s security measures and payment methods.
This has nothing to do with your SEPA request; your seller wants you to use eBay’s payment methods, and doesn’t care which one you use. That’s why he asked you to go through eBay.
You’re talking in circles, even though you’ve had the answer from the start.
And finally, I’m still surprised by the copy-paste from eBay customer service’s message. Indeed, it contains glaring mistakes, which is surprising for a customer service team that is supposed to write all day long.
Just as I find it surprising that the same eBay customer service did not mention the fact that this kind of payment is not covered by the eBay customer guarantee... and yet that’s their main talking point with the new payment system..
Surprising......
Kind regards
aigon_mimosa
OP3 years ago@iodangie , « You're talking in circles, when you have had the answer from the beginning. »
No answer from the beginning, because sending me to customer service while saying that for SEPA transfers, that would need to be checked with them, is not what you call the beginning; that is called: sending me over to.
« this one contains blatant mistakes, which for a customer service team that is supposed to write all day is still surprising. »
But is the eBay forum a dating club?
In what way am I concerned by your surprise, and in what way is your intervention useful for the two questions asked about SEPA?
Your feelings or resentment concern only you.

@aigon_mimosa
However, I don't understand why European SEPA bank transfers aren't the norm,
Maybe it's a data-processing time that's too long for a purchase compared with payment cards and Paypal.
Also, if Ebay were to accept Sepa, it would be their Sepa and not the seller's, so that they could hold back their commission before transferring the money to the seller.
kind regards

OP3 years ago@felin12 Good evening,
On many occasions, I have been able to pay by European SEPA bank transfer.
In addition, this German seller offers it: https://i.goopics.net/evxvap.png
The question, in reality, is not SEPA itself, but the fact that I am being told that SEPA would be handled by Ebay itself, and that I must contact Ebay to pay by bank transfer, which seems absurd to me; Ebay not being a financial intermediary, I do not see how it would be able to authorize bank transfers or not. I do not understand the German response.
Kind regards.

The way payments and payouts work has changed on Ebay; now they do what many other sites do: the buyer pays Ebay and Ebay pays the seller.

On numerous occasions, I was able to pay by European SEPA bank transfer.
3 times out of 6 purchases....
Ebay not being a financial intermediary
Are you deliberately pretending not to understand anything? EB is very much a financial intermediary: you pay EB, who then forwards the money (minus the fee) to the seller.

What is the reason you are intervening?
Your aggressiveness and your remarks bring absolutely nothing to the questions!
Proof, if any were needed, that none of the participants has a handle on anything, apart from bruised egos, the response from Ebay customer service:
In plain terms, whether you like it or not, bank transfer via SEPA is authorized by Ebay; oddly, all these interventions with insults from the person really served no purpose at all; support forum, we can have doubts when it comes to marking one's territory.

OP3 years agoI forgot to include the response from the lady from customer service: customerhelp_fr@ebay.com
« Hello,
I am Maryem, and I am delighted to follow up on your request about SEPA bank transfer in Europe,
I have read your request carefully, it is the seller who can accept or refuse the payment method you propose,
Ebay is a platform that allows sellers and buyers to easily find each other in order to finalize their sales / purchases,
So, if the seller accepts payment by bank transfer send them the money first, and then they must give you your order tracking number so you can see the delivery stages,
I remain at your disposal if needed
Thank you for contacting us today, and I wish you an excellent day on behalf of eBay.
Kind regards,

And you know what?!
Well, Ebay is registered in German-speaking Switzerland, like MarketPlace, an online sales platform and not as a financial intermediary!
Oh well, who would have thought?!
https://pages.ebay.fr/aboutebay/contact.html
Which still does not explain to me why the German service tells me that I must first contact Ebay customer service.

I'm going to make a reply that won't advance your question at all
with every person trying to help you, you give a contemptuous response
apparently you're working on the German Swiss site, so ask your questions there
I should point out that my ego is in no way hurt
aigon_mimosa
OP3 years ago@frelonverre ; « I specify that my ego is in no way bruised »
Oh yes it is! Otherwise why intervene?!
It’s fantastic, you bring absolutely no answer to the SEPA question and to why the German service asks you to contact Ebay, so clearly you don’t know anything about it, but you’re physically compelled to intervene anyway to attack a person; it was vital for you to write that; besides that, no ego, obviously.

Apparently, you didn’t understand the customer service lady’s answer:
I read your request carefully, it is the seller who can accept or refuse the payment method you propose,
and what you don’t understand is that the seller refuses the SEPA transfer, and sends you back to customer service.

on eBay, payments are made under their aegis to avoid sales outside eBay
so you can’t buy directly
