Is there a procedure for the buyer to add an extra amount to the delivery price?
Summary: bourgogne-amazigh sold a lot to an American buyer and found that the shipping costs were underestimated. They asked the buyer to add the difference via PayPal to avoid eBay fees, offering minerals as a gift. lingma85 advised calculating shipping fees correctly in the future and noted that the method used to estimate the costs was incorrect. They suggested including different international rate zones in the shipping fees to avoid such mistakes.
Hello everyone,
a buyer in the US bought one of my lots, he paid right away but the $10 shipping fee is too low because it actually costs $33, so I asked him if he wouldn’t mind paying the difference and in return I’m going to add some nice minerals up to the value of the price as a gift! he was therefore happy to accept but I don’t know if there is a procedure to ask him to pay an amount before proceeding with creating his shipping label of course not via the eBay platform because for more than 5 months it hasn’t been working for me ...
I had simply thought of asking him for the said amount via my PayPal account?
that way eBay won’t take a commission on the shipping...
thank you for your help and I wish you a very nice week 🙂

No... nothing is planned.
It’s up to the seller to calculate the shipping costs properly and insure their parcels properly so they don’t end up out of pocket in case of damage or loss....
Kind regards

OP1 year agodear lingma yes I understand well, sometimes I'm mistaken but this comes from the post office site which is not at all reliable, not to say misleading because when you start the procedure for an international parcel it says one price but in reality in small print it is specified that it's a base price !
so it's misleading because I can't get access to the real price for a country and when of course like recently with a buyer in Mexico, at the end of the procedure instead of €15 I ended up paying €42 out of pocket !
well then I'm going to ask my buyer via paypal at least ebay won't take an extra commission on shipping fees 🙂

On the La Poste website, you have several zones served internationally... you just need to indicate them with the rates in your shipping fees ..
- international Europe zone -
- Zone B: Eastern Europe (excluding the EU, Switzerland and Russia), Norway and the Maghreb.
Zone C: Other destinations (excluding the EU and Switzerland). African countries (excluding the Maghreb), Canada, the United States, Russia, the Near and Middle East.
None of these destinations have the prices you indicate.... so it would seem that you have completely "messed up" your delivery fees.
They need to be reviewed...
Best regards
