Phenomenal 22% increase in the "small international package" rate
Summary: The discussion begins with the observation of a 22% increase in rates for the "small international parcel," available only to online professionals. jacquelinedu36 expresses their dismay at the situation, while frelonverre points out that it is the buyers who pay the shipping costs, despite the increase in postal rates. A long discussion then follows between b05999 and frelonverre about eBay commission fees on shipping costs and how to optimize selling costs. lingma85 steps in to explain how to cover costs through good management of selling prices, while also stressing the importance of understanding and accepting the terms and conditions of online selling sites.

never forget that it is the buyers who pay the shipping costs
this morning while going to mail a letter (to EDF, I can't include that here ) I noticed the increase: the standard letter went up by 13 cents, from 1.16 it went to 1.29 €
apparently our pensions are going to increase !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

·2 years agogood evening
you forgot the 11% fee taken by eBay!! which by the way should not even be happening

·2 years ago@b05999
I don’t forget anything, but it’s always been that way, before it was with paypal
that said, whether it’s better to sell on a free site that gets little attention or on a paid site that gets more traffic
anyway we know that beforehand by reading the terms of service, if we accept their conditions then we keep quiet afterward

·2 years agohello
so no, buyers do not pay the full shipping costs
and I challenge you to put on all your listings exact shipping costs that will never come out of your pocket with those famous 11% taken on the parcel
for me 9 euros asked to pay the post office
I only receive 8.01 so a loss of 99 cents
and I think we are talking about shipping costs in this post
not a sales site as far as I know

well, the commission the site takes on shipping fees is common knowledge; if you don’t like it, go elsewhere
back when I was selling on eBay, I offered free shipping, so there was no commission on shipping, and since I only sold in France, it was doable
of course the item price is increased by the shipping cost, but that’s only possible for sales at a certain price where losing a euro doesn’t matter and where you don’t have fifty sellers offering the same thing as you
so no, buyers do not pay the full shipping costs
you shouldn’t include eBay’s commission share on postage in the shipping costs

·2 years agoyou shouldn't count eBay fees in shipping costs !!!!
oh really
the fees, known or not, are the seller's responsibility, not the buyer's
when I calculate shipping costs (as accurately as possible) so as not to penalize the buyer why does eBay come and take 11%. without counting bubble wrap and tape
so the parcels cost well more than the price shown
unless you do like you, free shipping by inflating the item's price
which I find really borderline

if you think that's out of line, that's your problem, but it does avoid a lot of pointless discussions, no picky buyers nitpicking the shipping costs, and no headaches when it comes to the 11% eBay takes on the shipping
and you don't find it out of line to make your buyers bear these costs, on top of the tape, bubble wrap, cardboard, why not the wear and tear on the car, the gas to go to the post office
don't quibble over a few cents
