Priority and general sponsored campaigns
Summary: pepin_international_selling discusses the disappointing results of its priority sponsored advertising campaign, noting that it did not improve sales despite a higher budget compared with a general campaign. Anonymous User suggests testing external sponsorship, explaining that the effectiveness of campaign types depends on the nature of the products. francexpressdeal emphasizes the importance of analyzing the specific statistics of each store on eBay to make informed decisions, and stresses that feedback from other sellers may be of limited use due to the diversity of individual settings.
Hello
I am currently testing the prioritized sponsored campaign (cost per click) because I wanted to increase my sales figures with it, but since I launched it (general store) I find the return on investment quite low, no more sales than with the general sponsored ads and a higher advertising budget, so I have several questions for those who use it:
Is there a minimum, maximum, or required type of ad to see a real effect on sales?
What average CPC should I set and what maximum budget should I allocate?
And more generally, I would have liked to know your feedback, for those who use it, because there are very few forums on prioritized sponsored ads.
Thank you in advance for your replies.

OP1 year agoHello, these aren’t really the kind of advice I was hoping for, more like feedback from experience. Obviously every shop is different (general, specialized, wholesale...), and without having all the data, I fully understand that no one can give me precise advice for my particular case. But with several pieces of feedback along with roughly what the person sells (type of item sold, quantity, etc.), we might be able to find similarities and therefore conclusions. Let’s say that 10 people with a general shop cite general sponsorship at 10% as the best way to sponsor their ads out of everything they’ve tried; we’d quickly conclude that general sponsorship is the most suitable for a general shop. After that, I also obviously understand that people who have spent a lot of time and therefore money trying all types of sponsorship may not particularly want to share their statistics.
Best regards

you say: "afterwards, I also obviously understand that the people who have spent a lot of time and therefore money trying all kinds of sponsorship may not especially want to share their statistics."
If that had been the case, I wouldn’t even have responded on your post...
I’m actually giving you the conclusion I came to after spending time on this issue.
Contrary to what you think, there is no magic formula that can even be adapted to a so-called "similar" type of shop. Other parameters (other than the items themselves) are taken into account by the algorithms (for example, the countries in which you sell). So many parameters that, once again, are specific to you.
That’s why looking for feedback from other sellers is particularly useless when it comes to sponsorship.
All the best and have a nice rest of your day.

OP1 year agoOkay, I’ll try external sponsoring then, thanks for your replies. If anyone else has any feedback to share from experience in order to potentially open up other possibilities, sponsorship options depending on the type and number of items sold, that would be very welcome!
Kind regards.

·1 year agoGood evening @pepin_international_selling
no one can really afford to give you the slightest advice without at least having a view of your stats. I’m talking about the ones you can see in the performance tab, then traffic.
In other words, the evolution of your impressions and views over a given period, but above all the breakdown of views between organic views, sponsored, external sponsored, and external.
And you’ll find plenty of other stats to help you make a decision based on your own products.
Advice on sponsored ads in general without taking eBay’s specifics into account won’t help you.
One type of sponsorship may suit one seller, but not at all another.
The only way to do it is to experiment for a while with one type of sponsorship and see what it gives you.
That’s what you already did with priority ads by realizing that it brings nothing in terms of results. And I came to the same conclusion as well...

OP1 year agoHello, thanks for your reply, so according to you, sponsored campaigns outside eBay would be more effective? because for now, in 2 weeks of priority sponsored campaign, I’m finding myself with almost the same stats as for my general campaign, with the difference that the priority campaign costs me 2x more.
Best regards

·1 year agoHello, I’m just saying that you have 3 types of campaign, unless I’m mistaken.
Classic sponsoring.
Priority sponsoring.
External sponsoring.
Priority sponsoring, I think, is made for items where competition is very strong inside the eBay site. It allows, unless I’m mistaken in my analysis, incidentally if your item is heavily viewed, to get out of the site and thus appear on Google more quickly. Something classic sponsoring also allows, but more slowly.
If your item is too common, I think you need to use external sponsoring.
Unfortunately, sponsoring does not have guaranteed results, otherwise everyone would copy each other... So it all depends on your product and strategy.
Kind regards.

·1 year agoHello,
What you need to find is in the seller hub, on the "my sales" pages, the "sponsor off eBay" section.
I think it's very dynamic if you have Christmas items.
In any case, and unless I'm mistaken, what you need to know is that management is automatic via AI. So in any case you have an implementation period, where the AI looks for the best place for the selected listings, best placement, best format, text or image, both, etc..etc..
So during this setup you'll see impressions go up and have few clicks; it's the AI that configures it.
But I think sponsoring off eBay, for the same cost, is more interesting.
Personally, I tried it and interrupted the session during setup, because I didn't have the products.
